Jazz coach Quin Snyder said Tuesday that he expects Burks (knee, ankle) to be ready to take full contact by the start of the season, Andy Larsen of KSL-TV reports. "I would think so, you know?" Snyder said, when asked about Burks' status for the opener. "From what I'm told and what I see, there's good progress, especially in the last week or so. I think it gets to a point where we're going to see it go quicker. But maybe not. I don't know exactly, but that would be my hope."
The Grizzlies are planning to give Gasol periodic nights off during the regular season, the Geoff Calkins of the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. "There will be some games we sit [Gasol]," coach David Fizdale said. "I'm definitely going to preserve him."
