Thompson had 11 points (3-8 FG, 5-5 FT), a team-high nine rebounds and four blocks in Thursday's loss to Wisconsin.

Thompson's Buckeyes didn't put forth a competitive effort, but the junior center still went to work down low, limiting Wisconsin big man Ethan Happ to six points on 3-of-10 shooting. It was nearly his second straight double-double, as Thompson racked up an impressive 15 points and 15 boards last Saturday against Minnesota. Although Ohio State has now lost four in a row, Thompson has been a bright spot, as he's now third in the Big Ten with a 9.1 RPG average.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Thompson led the Buckeyes with 17 points and 17 rebounds in the win over Connecticut on Saturday. It was his second double-double. He was 9-of-10 from the free-throw line.

The Virginia Tech transfer is having a better offensive season in his second year with Ohio State. He is averaging 11.0 points to go along with a team-high 8.6 rebounds. The seven-footer has scored in double-digits in seven of 10 games.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Thompson dropped 16 points (7-9 FG, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, and one block in 23 minutes against Florida Atlantic Tuesday.

Thompson, who is being used as the backup center for freshman Micah Potter, is producing better value off the bench than he did as a starter in 2015-16, and getting about two minutes more playing time per game as compared to Potter. The highly efficient junior averages 10.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks in 19.6 minutes per game.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Thompson will be the backup center for Friday's opener against Navy, Michael Carvell of LandOf10.com reports.

Thompson will take a backseat to four-star freshman Micah Potter for the team's first game of the year. It's unclear how head coach Thad Matta will split playing time between the two big men, or if Potter will be able to secure the starting spot for good. Owners of Thompson should be wary of this move, but wait to see how Matta uses them. Thompson averaged 6.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 18 minutes per game as a redshirt sophomore in 2015-16.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Thompson scored 12 points and grabbed a rebound in Tuesday’s contest with Michigan.

The junior connected on six of seven shots from the field to help Ohio St. prevail over the Wolverines. The Virginia Tech transfer has started 20 of 27 games this year after sitting out all of the 2014-2015 season because of ineligibility. The seven-footer has been consistent in his first year as a Buckeye, totaling ten or more points in ten games this year while shooting a proficient 56.6 percent from the field.

January 28, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Thompson had 16 points (7-for-7 from the floor) with five rebounds Thursday night against Illinois.

Thompson's playing time is a bit inconsistent, but he has scored in double figures with at least five rebounds in three of the last five games.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Thompson had 12 points, 10 rebounds and one blocked shot Wednesday night against Northwestern.

Thompson has two double-doubles over the last four games, coincidentally in both games he has played more than 20 minutes in that span. The sophomore big man is now averaging 6.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this season.

April 13, 2014

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Thompson will transfer to Ohio State, ESPN.com reports. The 6-11 center will likely have to sit out the 2014-15 season.

Thompson averaged 5.0 points and 4.7 rebounds in 16.2 minutes for the Hokies as a freshman. The Buckeyes have already landed former-Temple forward Anthony Lee (who will be eligible next season) as a transfer, so coach Thad Matta is having a nice offseason already.
