Micheal Spurlock

Spurlock recorded 23 receptions for 200 yards and a touchdown in 14 games combined with the Chargers and the Jaguars last season. He is currently a free agent.

Spurlock will likely battle Richard Goodman and Roscoe Parrish for the fifth wide receiver spot in 2012. All three players have a good amount of experience, but there are only so many roster spots any team can devote to wide receivers. Even if he makes the team, his upside is incredibly limited.

Spurlock, who finished the 2010 season with 17 catches for 250 yards and two touchdowns, 44 kickoff returns for 1129 yards and one touchdown, and 23 punt returns for 193 yards should reprise his role as primary returner and key backup wide receiver in 2011.

Spurlock, a decent kick returner, will try to stick with the team as a backup kick returner and wide receiver in 2010.

Spurlock will struggle to just make the team's active 53-man roster.

No matter what happens, there will always be a warm spot in the hearts of Buccaneer fans for Spurlock after he broke The Jinx in 2007 and became the first Buc ever to return a kickoff for a touchdown. He'll come back as the Bucs' kickoff return man in 2008. but likely won't get much time in the pass offense (no catches, just two targets in seven games).

Playing time probably will be limited to special teams.

Spurlock, who is an undrafted rookie who played quarterback in college, has a chance to make Arizona's team. His best bet for fantasy value this season is as a punt returner. Heading into training camp, he is expected to battle with Troy Walters for punt return duties. He might see some time as a fourth or fifth wideout, but isn't likely to produce many receptions in 2006. 9/3 Update: Two fumbles in the return game probably cost Spurlock a spot on the Cards' active roster. He was released and later signed to the team's practice squad.
