Evans, who was limited by a hamstring issue during the Bucs' offseason practices, expects to be fine for the start of training camp, the Tampa Bay Times reports. "Physically, I'm not in tip-top shape. I'm getting back into my game shape," Evans noted. "As far as injury-wise, I feel good. I've been running, and I feel 100 percent."

Mike Evans: Past News Updates   ( ▲ View most recent update )

Evans (hamstring) inked a four-year contract with the Buccaneers on Thursday. His deal will include a team option for the fifth year.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Based on his measurables and 4.5 speed, Evans will be counted on right away as a rookie to make an impact opposite Vincent Jackson, an equally sizable specimen in his own right. Evans has been slowed by a hamstring strain during the team's offseason practices, but he's expected to be fully healthy for training camp in July.

The Buccaneers selected Evans in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, seventh overall.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

The Buccaneers badly needed new wideout talent after trading Mike Williams to Buffalo, and Evans is an elite prospect at the position. This is a homerun pick as far as need and value go. Evans will almost certainly start alongside Vincent Jackson, and even in a potentially modest Josh McCown-led Tampa Bay passing game, Evans should provide immediate touchdown potential as a 6-foot-5, 231-pound beast with 4.53 speed and an unparalleled wingspan.
Evans ran the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds at the NFL Combine.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

Although it's not an enormous difference, it's worth mentioning that Evans' best unofficial time was 4.48. If he runs the 40 again at the Texas A&M pro day, a sub-4.5 time can be expected. Evans is one of the Combine's winners, thanks to his excellent measurements and the well above average workout numbers that went along with them. At 6-foot-5, 231 pounds with enormous 35 and 1/8-inch arms, the 4.53 time and a 37-inch vertical make Evans a clear WR1 prospect. If all of Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, and Blake Bortles are off the board when Minnesota is up to pick at No. 8, Evans could be a trade up target for teams like St. Louis and San Francisco. Otherwise, Evans might not get past Buffalo at No. 9 or Detroit at No. 10. You probably can't rule him out for Tampa Bay at No. 7, either.
