West carried a team-high seven times for 35 yards and caught both targets for another 11 yards in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs.

The second-year back was the busiest member of the Baltimore backfield Sunday, as Buck Allen was benched after fumbling for the second straight week. The Ravens abandoned the run for the most part after going down big on the scoreboard, but West's average of five yards per carry was impressive versus a stout Chiefs run defense. Allen should get another chance to shoulder the load, but West could see an expanded role next week versus Pittsburgh.
West (calf) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.

West carried five times for just 16 yards in Sunday's loss to Seattle. He was not targeted in the passing game.

Exclusive Fantasy Analysis (FREE PREVIEW)

The second-year back was modestly productive in his first two games after signing with Baltimore, but he found the sledding tough against a tough Seahawks defense. It didn't help that the Ravens fell behind big on the scoreboard, as West took a back seat as they aired it out, due to his lack of receiving skills. He figures to see a handful of touches per week as Buck Allen's backup, but he carries little fantasy value into next week's matchup with the Chiefs.
West rushed for 31 yards on eight carries, and caught his lone target for five more Sunday in Miami.

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that West will have an opportunity to be part of the Baltimore offense in the wake of Justin Forsett's season-ending arm injury. "[West] will definitely get an opportunity," said Harbaugh. "He's practiced well for us since he's been here."

2014

A powerfully built runner at 5-10, 225, West is coming off a record-setting season last year at Towson. The school's all-time leading rusher, West was handed the ball a ridiculous 413 times, carrying it for an insane FCS-record 2,509 yards and 41 touchdowns, averaging 6.1 yards per carry and 156.8 yards per game. He even showed some receiving skills, somehow finding time to catch 28 balls. Those eye-popping numbers got the Browns to spend a third-round pick on him and go so far as to say that he'll see a noteworthy share of the carries behind or maybe even in a timeshare with free-agent signing Ben Tate. There's practically no competition to be Tate's backup, meaning West is one injury away from starting, albeit in what looks to be a very poor Cleveland offense. Even though he's a step short of elite speed, West's played the role of a guy who can take the ball as many times as you want to hand it to him even if it wasn't against anything resembling NFL competition. West will need to improve upon his decision-making and field vision to become a true three-down NFL runner, but he has the benefit of newly hired offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who's made stars out of less-heralded backs like Alfred Morris and Steve Slaton.
