Archer was placed on the did not report list by the Bills after being claimed by the team last week, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Bills signed Archer in the hopes that the speedy back could help in the return game, but he has yet to report to the team after being claimed. By placing Archer on this list, the Bills are able to sign another player to their current 90-man roster without having to release Archer. He'll remain on the list until a resolution to his status with the team occurs.

Although he is not big enough to be an every down back, Archer is one of the fastest players in the NFL. Limited to just 17 touches in his rookie season, Archer has great hands out of the backfield, and the Steelers will look to create opportunities to get him the ball more often. The addition of free agent DeAngelo Williams should not interfere with their plans, and Archer could be a sneaky fantasy play in the event Le’Veon Bell goes down.
The Steelers spent a third-round pick on Archer this year, immediately setting off a debate as to whether the scat back's ridiculous 4.26 40 time at the Combine is enough to make up for his undersized 5-8, 173-pound frame. Obviously, he has home-run speed, which helped him generate a ridiculous 9.0 YPC for Kent State in 2012 (and 7.8 last year). An accomplished kick returner who took four back for touchdowns in only 18 tries over his junior and senior years, he figures to slide into a return role while factoring into passing-down and gadget plays as well as sometimes lining up in the slot. Although Archer's surprisingly strong despite his slight build, it'd be surprising to see the Steelers use him much between the tackles, where Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount make their bacon.
