Bryant is getting to the age where you have to question if his skills are starting to fade. He will turn 47 this year and though he's played well over the last few years, there doesn't seem to be much room for improvement.
Bart Bryant peaked in 2005 and his production has trended downward ever since. Bryant is getting up there in age, so don't expect another breakout year like he had in 2005. He simply caught lightning in a bottle that season, and the downward trend will most likely continue this year.
Byrant didn't exactly solidify his standing as a top-30 player on Tour last year. After winning twice in 2005, Bryant didn't card a top-10 in a full-field event until September. Bryant's been around long enough to know that his 2005 season was probably an aberration. His 2006 numbers are a more accurate gauge on what to expect in 2007.
Bryant was undoubtedly the biggest surprise of 2005. Bryant had won an event previous to last season, but that was the Valero Texas Open, which was held during the Fall season. Few expected Bryant to parlay that win into a top-10 on the money list. Anyone claiming they know what's next for Bryant is lying. It's a good bet, though, there won't be many paying $3.2 million for his services this year. I can't expect a player who wins the Tour Championship to fall on his face the following year, but I certainly don't expect him to win two more events this year. The bottom line is this guy could be great, he might win four times this year, but the price tag is just too high for a player who has only played well for 18 months.
