Fantasy eSports Beat Writers

Part Time (Remote)

RotoWire is seeking beat writers to cover eSports competition in League of Legends, Dota 2, Call of Duty and Counter-Strike:Global Offensive. In addition to serving as our expert on the specific leagues, the primary responsibilities for the position include:

  • Writing individual player updates daily while citing the appropriate news sources, using Twitter, RSS aggregators and other means for gathering news.
  • Writing player-focused recaps following the conclusion of matches.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of database information about players.
  • Potentially writing articles and copy editing.

Writers will improve their writing and communication skills while acquiring experience with an organization that has been at the forefront of the fantasy industry since 1997. Additionally, our contributors become part of a strong network of writers with an opportunity to have their work appear on partner sites, including ESPN.

A monthly stipend (paid quarterly) is available after a probationary period.

Qualifications: You must be an avid eSports fan with advanced knowledge of the games/leagues you are covering as well as strong writing skills, including the ability to contribute clean, substantive copy with minimal supervision.

Fantasy Soccer Beat Writers

Part-time (Remote)

RotoWire is seeking beat writers to cover the five major European soccer leagues: the English Premier League, La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy), Ligue 1 (France) and the Bundesliga (Germany). In addition to serving as our expert on specific teams within each league, the primary responsibilities for the positions include:

  • Writing individual player updates daily while citing the appropriate local sources using Twitter, RSS aggregators and other means for gathering news.
  • Writing player-based recaps following the conclusion of matches.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of database information for players in the leagues.
  • Contributing toward annual preseason rankings and potentially in-season feature-writing.

Writers will improve their writing and communication skills and will acquire experience with an organization that has been at the forefront of the fantasy industry since 1997. Additionally, our contributors become part of a strong network of writers with an opportunity to have their work appear on partner sites including ESPN, Fox Sports and Sirius-XM.

A monthly-stipend (paid quarterly) is available after a probationary period.

Qualifications: Avid sports fan with extensive knowledge of international soccer; strong writing skills as well as the ability to contribute clean, substantive copy with minimal supervision. Applicants must have an advanced knowledge of the league being covered.

Cricket Beat Writers

Part-time (Remote)

RotoWire is seeking beat writers to cover domestic cricket leagues such as IPL, BBL, PSL, and Caribbean Premier League; as well as series between top cricketing nations (India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England, and Pakistan, among others). In addition to serving as our expert on specific leagues or countries, the primary responsibilities for the positions include:

  • Writing individual player updates daily while citing appropriate local sources using Twitter, RSS aggregators, and other means for gathering news.
  • Writing player-based recaps following the conclusion of matches.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of database information for players in those leagues or from those countries.
  • Other projects and tasks that may arise.

Writers will improve their writing and communication skills and will acquire experience with an organization that has been at the forefront of the fantasy industry since 1997. Additionally, our contributors become part of a strong network of writers with an opportunity to have their work appear on partner sites including ESPN, Fox Sports and Sirius-XM.

Initially, there is no financial compensation, though many of our Beat Writers have gone on to have expanded, paid roles within the company.

Qualifications: Avid sports fan with extensive knowledge of international cricket, strong writing skills, and an ability to contribute clean, substantive copy with minimal supervision. Applicants must have an advanced knowledge of the leagues or countries being covered.
