The Devils wanted Vanbiesbrouck to return as Martin Brodeur's understudy next season, but Vanbiesbrouck has turned them down and will retire from hockey, according to the
Bergen Record.
ANALYSIS
Beezer will become the coach/director of player operations for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, the Ontario Hockey League team of which he is a part-owner. Vanbiesbrouck retires from the game with 374 regular season wins and 40 career shutouts. His most memorable run was probably when he carried a surprise Panthers team into the '96 Stanley Cup Finals.
