2014-2015 Bruins Preview: Getting Back Up Again

The Bruins may have wilted in the playoffs last season against the Habs, but with the return of a strong core headlined by goalie Tuukka Rask, another run at the Cup remains plausible.

RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2014-15

Subscribe now to see our 2014-15 outlook.

2013-14

Paille remains a valued role player for the Bruins, using his wheels to kill penalties and generate a decent amount of chances on offense, while normally working on the teamís effective fourth line. He's not known as a great finisher, but the defensively responsible speedster did manage to chip in 10 goals and 17 points in 46 games this past season.

2012-13

Paille isn't much of a fantasy factor, but he brings speed and penalty-killing skills to the table and is a valuable role player for the Bís despite his modest (nine goals and 15 points in 69 games in 2011-12) production.

2011-12

Paille, who finished with 13 points in 43 games for the Bruins this past season, emerged from the ranks of the healthy scratches to become a valued role player, whose speed and drive are assets in his role as an ace penalty-killer. There won't be much scoring beyond that, however.

2010-11

Paille had 10 goals and 20 points in 76 games last season, including the 74 he played after being acquired in an early-season trade with Buffalo. He's expected to work on the B's fourth-line this coming season, while reprising his role as a penalty-killing specialist.

2009-10

After a 35 point (19G, 16A) season in 2007-08, Paille fell short last season notching just 12 goals and 15 assists. Consistency continues to be a problem for the former first-round draft pick, who had only two points in the month of January. This season the pressure is on for Paille to perform early or else he could be without a job on the Sabresí roster.

2008-09

Paille has the talent to occupy a second-line role at some point, but he hasn't put it all together yet. Paille scored 19 goals and added 16 assists and a plus-9 rating in a third/fourth-line role last season. He figures to open 2008-09 on the fourth line unless he has a great training camp or injuries strike the Sabres.

2007-08

Paille had a chance to cement himself as a key component of Buffalo's future last season, but he fell short of the mark, in part because of a broken finger that cost him five weeks. He wasn't overly impressive when he did receive a chance to play and he fell behind Drew Stafford and possibly also Marek Zagrapan on the Sabres' list of prospects. Paille has a chance to win a full-time role with a strong training camp, but he'll probably be a depth winger even if things go well.

2006-07

Paille will have to fight to make the Sabres squad in 2006-07, but has a lot of long-term potential. He won't produce much this season, but keep an eye on him for the future. Speed and offense are the best dishes he brings to the table, with a little bit of toughness.

2005-06

Paille has fantasy-type talents if he continues to develop, as speed and offense are the best dishes he brings to the table (with a little bit of toughness). Paille, who was selected by the Sabres in the first round (20th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, led Team Canada to a silver medal in the 2004 IIHF World Juniors, scoring four goals and posting a +1 plus/minus rating in six games. He set career for Guelph of the OHL last season with 37 goals, 43 assists, 80 points and 63 penalty minutes. He's still a couple of seasons away, but he's on our radar.
