Jokipakka secured a one-year deal with KHL Sochi on Monday, Igor Eronko of Sport-Express reports.
ANALYSIS
Jokipakka attempted to earn an NHL contract in training camp with the Capitals but was released from his PTO. The blueliner will head back to Europe -- this time in the KHL -- and will likely be hoping he can impress enough to get another look heading into the 2018-19 campaign.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2014
Jokipakka logged 38 games with the Calgary Flames before being moved to Ottawa at the Trade Deadline for forward Curtis Lazar. Signed to a professional tryout agreement, the 26-year-old defenseman is in the running for a depth role on Washington's roster, but is facing stiff competition from the organization's talented (and younger) prospects, so his position is not at all assured despite having 150 games of NHL experience. With only one goal and six points to show for 41 games of work last season, the Finnish blueliner has very limited fantasy value even if he does find a home in the NHL ranks this Fall.
Jokipakka made his debut in the AHL last season, scoring five goals and 16 assists through 68 games. Jokipakka is a part of a young defensive corps in Dallas that has a lot of potential. He'll be given a shot at making the Dallas lineup, but is likely to start the season with the AHL Stars. He's a big d-man with the ability to activate and makes good plays coming out of his own zone. It won't be long before he makes his NHL debut. Until then, he should be left off your fantasy roster.
