Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might make sense for Wild
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman thinks it would make sense for the Wild to pursue Sheary on the trade market.
ANALYSIS
Sheary has 12 goals and 30 points in 59 contests with Washington this season. He's in the final season of a two-year, $3 million contract, and that minimal salary would be important to the Wild given their difficult cap situation. Minnesota also has a 31-21-5 record, which puts the team in the running for a Wild Card spot, but might not be enough to give Wild GM Bill Guerin the confidence that this is a good year to go all in. For those reasons, Sheary might be a good compromise addition over the higher profile forwards on the market.

Sheary emerged as a much-needed source of secondary offense for Washington a season ago, posting 19 goals and 43 points in 71 games, his highest totals since the 2016-17 campaign with the Penguins. Sheary's 14.7 percent shooting percentage was high, but not outrageously so, and actually down from the 15.9 percent mark he finished with in 2020-21. Sheary isn't going to produce enough to be an option in anything other than the deepest of fantasy formats, but what we saw a season ago may actually be sustainable moving forward.
