Ziggy retired from the NHL 18 months ago after suffering through several shoulder issues. He's a talented player who clearly believes he has something left in the proverbial tank. We have no idea if this signing is a testing ground for a return to the NHL or simply the function of his growing boredom with retirement. We'll monitor this just in case.

Palffy, 33, is entering his 12th NHL season. He hasn't played a full season since 1997. On a team with Mario Lemieux and Sidney Crosby, however, he won't be under as much pressure to produce as he was in New York and Los Angeles. He's a perfect fit for the new league rules, but don't count on him to play a whole season. Even if he only plays in 65-70 games, however, Palffy could easily surpass his career high of 90 points as a new member of the Penguins.
