Mir lost to Javy Ayala via submission (punches) at 4:30 of Round 2 at Bellator 212 on Friday in Honolulu.

Mir came into this fight with a clear strategy, and it seemed to be working for him early in the fight. He scored a takedown early in the first round and threatened with some submissions. However, he was not able to hold Ayala down. Towards the end of the round, Ayala escaped to his feet and unloaded with some strikes. Mir looked exhausted and continued to eat punishment in the second round. Mir eventually submitted due to strikes and bowed out of the fight. Mir is now riding a four-fight losing streak which includes two losses in the UFC and two in Bellator. He certainly appears to be getting closer and closer to retirement.

Mir lost to Fedor Emelianenko via TKO (punches) at 0:48 of Round 1 at Bellator 198 on Saturday in Chicago.

The former Pride FC champion recovered and grabbed a clinch. After a samba throw from Emelianenko, the fighters returned to their feet. Mir rushed him again. This time Emelianenko caught Mir with an uppercut and finished the fight. Mir has now dropped three fights in a row and has not won since 2015.

Will fight at Bellator World Grand Prix
Mir will fight with seven other heavyweight for the Bellator belt at The Bellator World Grand Prix 2018 Heavyweight Tournament. He will face Fedor Emelianenko in April.

Agrees to deal with Bellator
Mir agreed to a deal with Bellator on Tuesday, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reports.

After being granted his released from the UFC in July, the 38-year-old will head to Bellator for an opportunity to rehab his image following a positive test for PEDs last year. While Mir has maintained his innocence, he's in the midst of serving a two-year ban from the sport, which is set to expire in April of 2018. Mir announced via his personal Twitter account on Saturday that he has been granted release from his UFC contract.

Although he has claimed innocence throughout the investigation, Mir decided to ask for a release from the UFC and go into retirement instead. The veteran's request was granted. Mir will go down in history with the record for most wins (16) and finishes (13) in the heavyweight division. His retirement follows a spectacular career.
