Defoe hammered the equalizer on two shots (one on target) in the 2-2 draw to Liverpool on Saturday.

Defoe scraped a crucial point for the Black Cats with a magnificent shot. That's his first goal since Jan 13. He's been on and off the whole season but now gets his tally to 10 goals for the campaign. With two shots average per game, though, he could be a decent option against more inferior opponents. He'll have a tough one on Saturday facing the Red Devils who are coming into the game with only two goals allowed in their last four games.

Defoe suffered a hamstring injury toward the end of Saturday's match against Liverpool, but he does not believe it is serious, the Sunderland Echo reports.

Defoe has been instrumental in the Black Cats' attack this season, and with Duncan Watmore suffering an ankle injury, Sunderland could be rather light in the attack next weekend if Defoe's injury turns out to be worse than expected.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Defoe notched a hat-trick on three shots in the vital 4-2 away win over Swansea on Wednesday.

The forward has been blazing the last two games. He finally looks healthy and confident and the results are obvious - five goals in those two games to help his team pick up two priceless wins. It's worth noting those features were both against two of the worst defenses in the league but to take no credit away from him he was there with some magnificent finishes. The real test for him comes on Saturday against his former team - Tottenham Hotspurs and one of the best defenses in Premier League this season.

Defoe scored twice and created a trio of chances in Sunderland's 3-1 win against Aston Villa at the Stadium Of Light on Saturday.

It's hard to take much from this game as Villa are, undoubtedly, the worst side in the Premier League right now but Defoe's brace will do himself and Sunderland the world of good. At 33 he is not as quick as he used to be but, from six-yards out, Defoe is still a clinical finisher.

Defoe (hamstring) is available off the bench Saturday against Watford.

Steven Fletcher, Duncan Watmore and Fabio Borini will lead the attack against a fairly solid Watford defense.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Defoe (hamstring) returned to full training and will be in the squad for Saturday's match against Watford.

With Steven Fletcher going down in training on Thursday, Defoe's return could not come soon enough. If Fletcher can't go, Defoe could be returned to the starting XI immediately, but it's unclear how fit he is at this point. He has seven goals in 13 matches across all competitions this season and is by far the most attacking minded player on the Black Cats.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Defoe (hamstring) is making good progress, according to manager Sam Allardyce and he should be set to return against Watford next week.

Defoe was injured during last weekend's 2-0 victory against Stoke City. He'll most likely return to the lineup, either as a starter or substitute, for the match against Watford on Dec. 12.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Defoe (hamstring) has been ruled out of Saturday's match with Arsenal, Chris Young of the Sunderland Echo reports.

Defoe's absence will cause problems for the Black Cats as they lack a real goal scoring punch to begin with and without their biggest offensive weapon, they'll have even more trouble scoring. The pacey forward has seven goals in 13 matches across all competitions. He'll be replaced by someone between Fabio Borini, Duncan Watmore, Adam Johnson and Jermain Lens up top.
