Rossi scored eight goals and added four assists in 33 combined appearances for Fiorentina and Levante this season.

Rossi had a dreadful time in Italy, failing to score a single goal in league for La Viola, but he managed six goals and two assists in 15 starts after his January loan move to Spain. Still property of Fiorentina despite falling out of favor at the club, Rossi is expected to field offers from other clubs this summer and could be on the move for a nominal fee.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rossi has been held scoreless after 13 shots taken over nine Serie A outings this season, although he's managed to assist on two goals over that time span.

Rossi's lack of production this season certainly stems from his inability to start over fellow forwards Nikola Kalinic and Federico Bernardeschi, while also splitting starts with Ante Rebic and Khouma Babacar. Unless injuries open up opportunities for Rossi, the 28-year-old will continue to be limited for the remainder of the season.

Rossi will be sidelined for four-to-five months after undergoing yet another surgery on his right knee, ESPN FC reports.

Rossi will undergo yet another knee surgery after he hurt his right knee during training last month, Sky Sports reports.

Rossi has already torn the ACL in his right knee twice and while the latest surgery is a basic arthroscopic procedure, given this history with knee problems, it could be a while before Rossi returns to the pitch.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rossi has reportedly been feeling pain in his right knee, and he has been told to rest for at least seven days, Football Italia reports.

For most players, a little knee soreness wouldn't be too much of an issue, especially before the season even begins, but with Rossi's history of knee injuries, any pain in the area is treated with extreme caution. He will likely undergo a scan in the coming days to determine the extent of the injury, and he could be in danger of missing the Serie A opener against Roma on Aug. 30.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rossi was left off the Italy 23-man squad for the World Cup, with Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne getting selected ahead of the New Jersey-born striker, ESPN FC reports.

Rossi missed four months during the Serie A season after suffering another right knee injury, but he appeared to prove his fitness since returning in early May. Rossi failed to make the 2010 squad as well, and it will likely be very difficult for him to make the 2018 World Cup when he will be 31.
