Manager Arsene Wenger said Thursday that Welbeck (knee) is on track to return after the upcoming international break.

Welbeck has yet to play this season due to the ailment, though he's likely to have a minimal role even when he is fit, with Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez all likely to get playing time over him.

Welbeck (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's match against Crystal Palace.

Welbeck is reportedly closing in on a return, so while he won't be available this weekend, he may be on Aug. 24 against Liverpool. That being said, with Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott fit, his path for playing time is a bit blocked.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said Friday that Welbeck is not far away from returning from his knee injury, but he will not play Sunday against West Ham.

Welbeck's role is a bit uncertain given that Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott are both fit, while Alexis Sanchez is also likely to only miss the opener. Being fourth on the depth chart is certainly not ideal for fantasy purposes, and while he has plenty of upside when he starts, that isn't likely to happen a lot.

Welbeck has been ruled out for the Community Shield on Sunday because of his knee injury.

The news isn't surprising, as manager Arsene Wenger had already stated that Welbeck was unlikely to be fit for the start of the Premier League season. Arsenal have plenty of cover, as Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott are both fit, and both are likely to keep Welbeck's playing time limited this season in league matches.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Welbeck has yet to fully recover from his knee injury, and he is unlikely to play in the Premier League opener Aug. 9 against West Ham, manager Arsene Wenger said Friday. "He is supposed to start to go outside and run again this weekend and if that is positive in the next three weeks he will be available," Wenger said. "He will be short for the start of the season in two weeks, but three weeks should be all right."

Welbeck has been dealing with the knee issue since the end of last season, so the club has little reason to rush him back for the season opener. With Olivier Giroud locked into the starting spot, and Theo Walcott also likely to get looks at center forward and on the wing, Welbeck could find playing time hard to come by if everyone stays fit.

Welbeck will miss Arsenal's trip to Singapore after suffering a setback to the knee injury he suffered at the end of last season, reports the Daily Mail.

Welbeck already missed the opening days of training, and will not be fit for the trip to Singapore. He and the team are working to get the striker fit for the start of the season.

Welbeck has been ruled out for the FA Cup final on Saturday because of his knee injury.

Manager Arsene Wenger has been optimistic that Welbeck would be able to return, but the bone is apparently still bruising, which means he will miss out playing for England this summer as well. Despite the issues, Welbeck is expected to be fully fit well before the start of the 2015/16 season.

Welbeck (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's season finale against West Brom, and he may also miss the FA Cup final against Aston Villa the following weekend.

Manager Arsene Wenger noted that Welbeck should be available for England, with the injury not considered overly serious despite already being ruled out for the finale.
