McInerney (leg) will start in place of Kei Kamara (suspension) on Sunday against D.C. United.

McInerney had been dealing with a lingering leg injury over the past few weeks but his return to the field will be an important one as Columbus jockeys for playoff position during the final game of the regular season. The 23-year-old has a total of 14 starts on the season, although 13 of them came with the Impact where he began the 2015 season.

McInerney is dealing with a knock which prohibits him from being active against Toronto on Saturday, Andrew King of reports.

McInerney has only seen four minutes of action over the past month as he's now dealing with a knock in his leg after battling an earlier hamstring injury which also left him sidelined for multiple weeks. Even when healthy, however, he's generally only used in limited minutes off the bench.

McInerney (hamstring) was left off the 18-man squad for Saturday's game against the Timbers.

McInerney is a viable reserve option for the Crew but he's currently dealing with hamstring injury that will keep him off the field for a third-straight game.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

McInerney isn't available for Saturday's game against D.C. United and was seen holding his lower back while working with trainers during pregame warmups, Adam Jardy of The Columbus Dispatch reports.

McInerney usually is an option off the bench for Columbus as a late-game opportunist, but all signs point to him dealing with an injury despite unofficial word from the Crew. Further news on the forward will likely be released in due time with his next chance to play coming next Saturday against Portland.

McInerney was traded to the Crew on Tuesday in exchange for a second-round draft pick in 2016.

McInerney has found playing time hard to come by lately with the emergence of Dominic Oduro, and the recent addition of Didier Drogba will only push him further down the depth chart. Unfortunately, he has no clear starting spot in Columbus, where Kei Kamara, Federico Higuain, Ethan Finlay and Justin Meram have the front four locked up.

McInerney opened his account for Montreal with a goal in the 43rd minute of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Chicago.

Jack Mac was surprisingly sent off to Montreal from Philadelphia. Always one to be counted out and sold short, Jack will keep a chip on his shoulder to be sure. His chemistry with Marco Di Vaio was evident and that spells good things for the Impact and for his fantasy value.

McInerney scored what looked like it may hold up to be the winner, but Portland netted in the 94th minute as the the Union and Timbers battled to a 1-1 stalemate on Saturday.

A lot of weight is on Jack Mack this season for Philly. It was a big goal in a tough place to play, as the new-look Union raised some eyebrows despite conceding the late goal.
