After Carlos Ruiz suddenly decided to leave Philadelphia during the week, it left a gaping hole at striker. The seldom used McInerney, who will clearly play a lot more now, seized the opportunity with his first goal of the season.

McInerney scored his second goal of 2010 in Saturday's 2-1 win over New England.

McInerney, for now, is known for his performance st the U-17 World Cup. He will be itching to make a name for himself professionally with Philly. Still only 18, the future is incredibly bright for the crafty striker.

McInerney added a late goal, the first of his MLS career, in Saturday's 3-1 loss to L.A.

McInerney is still just 17 years old. If he can develop he could be another young exciting striker in the U.S Soccer program. He doesn't do anything that jumps off the page, he just scores goals and competes as hard as anybody else on the field.

McInerney notched the only goal in the USA's 1-0 win over United Arab Emirates on Sunday to send the United States through to the knockout stage of the U-17 World Cup in Nigeria.

McInerney has been by far the most impressive player on the U-17's. He's been one of the more exciting American prospects to come along in a few years, and if he can follow the path of Michael Bradley and Charlie Davies, sign with a lesser club in Europe, get playing time and progress, he'll be very fun to follow through the ranks.
