McAuley (calf) played 90 minutes for Albionís Under-21 side and is close to recovering in time for Saturdayís game at Southampton, manager Alan Irvine told the club website.

McAuley could be employed as part of a central defensive trio this season by Irvine, alongside Joleon Lescott and Jonas Olsson, depending on his preferred formation. McAuley usually chips in with a couple of goals every season yet fantasy owners should be wary of the change in system and West Bromís poor defensive record last season.

McAuley, who has been dealing with a calf injury, is available off the bench Sunday against Arsenal.

It wasn't a great fantasy matchup anyway for McAuley, and he's unlikely to provide much value off the bench.

McAuley (calf) was unable to pass fit ahead of Saturday's match against West Ham and he is unavailable for the match.

McAuley misses a decent clean sheet opportunity, and could return next week at Arsenal, a less than ideal defensive situation.

McAuley (calf) has not trained this week and will face a late fitness test ahead of Saturday's match against West Ham, the club's official web site reports.

McAuley was held out of Monday's match against Manchester City due to the ailment and he hasn't trained since. Manager Pepe Mel specifically noted that he wants McAuley back to cover West Ham striker Andy Carroll, who could wreck havoc on the Baggies' back line.

McAuley is out for Monday's match against Manchester City after pulling a calf muscle in training Thursday, according to Chris Lepkowski of the Birmingham Mail.

An away trip to the Etihad was probably not the best fantasy matchup anyway, so McAuley's absence Monday shouldn't harm too many fantasy teams. The severity of the injury wasn't made public, other than he would miss Monday's game, so it is possible he could return next weekend at home against West Ham, certainly a more favorable matchup.

McAuley returned from an ankle injury to start and play all 90 minutes of West Brom's 3-3 draw with Cardiff City on Saturday.

McAuley's fantasy value is mostly derived from the Baggies' ability to shutout their opponents, something they've failed to do in their last 10 matches.

McAuley, who picked up an ankle injury in last weekend's match against Hull City, has been deemed fit for Saturday's match against Cardiff City, the club's official web site reports.

The Baggies' defense has struggled mightily this season, and McAuley hasn't been a part of a clean sheet since a 1-0 win over Newcastle on New Year's Day. Despite the poor record, a matchup against Cardiff could break the streak.

McAuley was available off the bench for Wednesday's game against Aston Villa, but he did not enter the match.

McAuley returned from a hamstring injury, but he apparently wasn't in the plans for slowing down the Villa attack, which put four goals on the scoreboard. He'll look to get back on the pitch Sunday against Liverpool.
