Benteke (Achilles) "is not too far away from training," according to manager Paul Lambert, Aston Villa's Official Site reports.

Benteke's rehab process has been ahead of schedule and there's still hope for a return sometime in September. Although since he's yet to begin training, an Oct. 4 matchup against Manchester City seems to be the most likely return date at this point.

Benteke's (Achilles) rehab process is ahead of schedule to the point where he may be able to rejoin Villa on the pitch in September, Mirror reports.

Benteke hadn't been rumored to make a comeback until sometime in November. The two-week international break early in the EPL season will allow Benteke to potentially only miss three games if he's fit enough for the Sept. 13 matchup with Liverpool. Being one of Villa's best players, he'll likely assume his spot up front on the starting XI when he ultimately returns.

Benteke (Achilles) is currently able to do light training activities, but he's still expected to miss the beginning of the EPL season, the Birmingham Mail reports.

Benteke would normally be in the mix of goal scorers for Villa this upcoming season had he not injured his Achilles in April. While he's sidelined, fellow teammates Gabriel Agbonlahor, Andreas Weimann and Darren Bent will serve as the team's major threats to score.

Benteke's (Achilles) timeline for a return is slated for sometime in October, Sky News reports.

Benteke suffered an Achilles injury in April which ended his season early. A World Cup appearance for Belgium is out of the question, and now it appears that his next EPL season will be shortened as well. Fellow Aston Villa teammates Gabriel Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann now stand a good chance to see extended time on the field with Benteke and Libor Kozak (leg) not particularly close to returning.

Benteke suffered an Achilles injury during training Thursday and he is expected to be out for at least six months, the club's official web site reports.

Benteke is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days, and the timeline means that he will not only miss the rest of the Premier League season, but also the World Cup, a huge blow to both Aston Villa and the Belgium national team, who many considered a dark horse to win the event.

Benteke scored in the 25th and 27th minutes of Aston Villa's 4-1 win over Norwich City on Sunday.

Benteke's first goal was a marvelous bicycle kick after hauling in a long pass from Ron Vlaar. Then two minutes later, he headed home a corner for his first multi-goal performance since the Premier League's opening fixture this season against Arsenal on August 17. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, Aston Villa's match against Manchester City next weekend has been postponed, which means they'll have to wait until March 15 against Chelsea to see Benteke again.

Benteke scored from the spot in the 64th minute of Aston Villa's 4-3 win over West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday.

Villa and West Brom put on an unexpected scoring barrage Wednesday and it almost looked like Benteke was going to miss out on the party. However, after six goals were scored, Benteke netted the winner for Villa, finding the back of the net for the third match in a row. He'll look to extend his streak Saturday at Everton.

Benteke scored in the 36th minute of Aston Villa's 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Saturday.

Benteke has now found the back of the net in back-to-back matches after going nearly three months without a goal. The Belgian striker is starting to get back into excellent form and could start a solid scoring run.
