Rakitic started all four games for Croatia at Euro 2016, tallying one goal on eight shots (two on target), 20 crosses, seven dribbles and seven fouls. He takes his international record to 12 goals in 80 caps. Croatia lost 1-0 in over time to Portugal and were knocked out of the tournament at the round of 16.

Rakitic had another excellent campaign with Barca last season, though, with a significantly increased amount of playing time. The 28-year-old held a solid fantasy upside consistently managing to record seven goals and two assists in 36 La Liga appearances (30 starts).

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rakitic bagged a goal on five shots (two on target) and added seven crosses and four dribbles in Friday's dramatic stoppage-time 2-2 draw to Czech Republic.

Unlike his first Euro encounter, Rakitic was arguably the best player on the pitch versus the Czechs. He converted a very clever flick over Peter Cech into the second goal for his team in what was supposed to be the exclamation point of the game. Besides his top-level field play he takes on some of the corners and free kicks which additionally rises his fantasy value.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rakitic won five tackles, secured a pair of interceptions, scored the opening goal and attempted four shots during a Man of the Match performance versus Sevilla on Sunday.

The midfielder was on hand to put away a rebound from a free kick in the 20th minute, and his work on the defensive side of the ball helped the league-leaders to control much of the game, though they ultimately coughed up the lead. Rakitic is now up to seven goals in all competitions this season, but Barcelona's reliance on their talented front three minimizes his role in the final third. The next edition of El Clasico versus Real Madrid awaits on Apr. 2.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rakitic attempted a pair of shots, supplied five crosses and scored his first league goal of the season in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Deportivo.

The Croation has been a fixture in the midfield for Barca this season, but his production has been lacking as the fearsome attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez do the heavy lifting. With just three goals and a pair of assists to his name in all competitions, Rakitic is a much better fantasy option in formats that reward action stats. Barcelona is currently in Japan for the Club World Cup, and they will resume La Liga play Dec. 30 against Real Betis.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rakitic enjoyed a stellar debut season for Barcelona, as he tallied eight goals and eight assists while fitting seamlessly into the team's free-flowing style.

The Croatian was a key member of the treble-winning side as he usurped many of the minutes left up for grabs by an aging Xavi. Rakitic has spoken glowingly of the club and his teammates following the Champions League title and will most certainly remain with Barca this summer in hopes of repeating next season.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rakitic attempted one shot and assisted on a Lionel Messi goal in Barcelona's 3-0 victory over Bayern on Wednesday.

The Croation is a facilitator and leaves most of the heavy lifting on offense to the front three, but has now chipped in a goal and two assists over his last two matches. He will continue to play a crucial role in the Barcelona midfield and is always a threat to provide assists playing in such a high-scoring side. Rakitic and Barca will welcome Real Sociedad to the Nou Camp this weekend.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rakitic had a goal and an assist during Barcelona's 3-1 win over Granada on Saturday.

Rakitic has been a vital piece of the Barca attack this season, though he isn't a stat accumulator like the forwards in front of him. He has four goals and five assists in 23 La Liga appaerances, with his goal Saturday the first he's scored in league play since Nov. 22 against Sevilla, and the assist his first since he had two against Deportivo on Jan. 18.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rakitic assisted on two of Lionel Messi's three goals during Barcelona's 4-0 win over Deportivo on Sunday.

Rakitic now has four assists on the season, all of which have come since he picked up his first in La Liga play back on Dec. 7 against Espanyol. He continues to get consistent starts for Barca, and while he is the most prolific midfielder on the squad, he's still way overshadowed by Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.
