Dempsey is expected to be available to play Saturday against Vancouver, the Seattle Times reports.

Dempsey is expected to return to training Friday after participating in the MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday, and given that he was away at the Gold Cup, and not because of an injury, he is likely to slot right back into the starting lineup.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Dempsey (international duty) is not expected to join the Sounders until Friday's training session, Matt Pentz of the Seattle Times reports.

Dempsey just finished up his international obligations with the U.S. Men's National Team in the Gold Cup but he'll head straight to Colorado so he can participate in the All-Star Game. Seattle has been reeling during his absence, so there's a good chance the forward will immediately re-enter the starting XI on Saturday against the Whitecaps.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Dempsey has served out his three-game suspension but is currently away from the Sounders as he competes in the Gold Cup with the U.S. Men's National Team, Matt Pentz of the Seattle Times reports.

Dempsey is slated to miss the majority of July as the exact length of his absence depends on how far his nation advances in the Gold Cup. In his continued absence, Lamar Neagle and Darwin Jones should continue to see unexpected playing time with Obafemi Martins (groin) still sidelined with an injury.

Dempsey has been suspended three games and fined an undisclosed amount for his conduct during Tuesday's U.S. Open Cup match against Portland, Major League Soccer announced Friday.

Dempsey took the referee's notepad, ripped it up and threw it after he was assessed a red card, one of three that the Sounders were given during the out-of-control match. Dempsey will miss Saturday's match against San Jose, Wednesday's match against Philadelphia and next Sunday's match against Portland before he is eligible to return July 3 against D.C. United. It's a major hit to the Sounders, who are without Obafemi Martins (groin) for 3-to-6 weeks and Chad Barrett, who is still dealing with a hamstring injury, which means Lamar Neagle could be the man up front.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Dempsey could be suspended by Major League Soccer for his actions during Tuesday's U.S. Open Cup match against Portland, U.S. Soccer announced Friday.

A hearing will be held next week to determine the punishment, which Dempsey is getting for taking the referee's notebook and ripping it off as he was assessed a red card. Dempsey is also likely facing a significant suspension from the U.S. Open Cup, though the Sounders were eliminated from this year's competition Tuesday. It seems likely that Dempsey will play this weekend against San Jose, but he could be hit with a heavy ban beginning next week.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Dempsey took two shots, neither on goal, and failed to score for the fourth straight game Saturday against FC Dallas.

Dempsey last scored May 9 against Columbus when he bagged a brace, and while he has two assists since that game, it's a far cry from his early-season dominant play when he had a goal or assist in 10 straight games. Nevertheless, his fantasy upside remains one of the highest in Major League Soccer, and he'll look to bust out again next weekend against San Jose.

Dempsey (paternity) will start in Saturday's game against FC Dallas.

Dempsey missed Seattle's last match against Sporting KC while attending the birth of his child but he's expected to be available moving forward for the Sounders. He'll be starting up front alone as Obafemi Martins (nose) begins the game on the bench.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Dempsey is expected to play Saturday against FC Dallas after missing last weekend's match against Sporting KC while on paternity leave, the News Tribune reports.

Dempsey has been an elite fantasy option this season and is fully expected to slot right back into the starting lineup. His partner up front is questionable, as Obafemi Martins will try to play with a mask to protect his surgically-repaired nose, so it's possible that he will not start.
