Sturridge (thigh) is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the calendar year, The Guardian reports.

Sturridge is dealing with a slight tear in his thigh as this is remarkably the ninth thigh injury that has plagued him over his career. His rough timetable for a return is scheduled for the Jan. 1 match against Leicester City.

Sturridge will not return Saturday against Crystal Palace after suffering a thigh injury during training, according to James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo. Sturridge will undergo additional scans Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury.

Sturridge suffered the initial thigh injury during the September international break, and then picked up a calf issue while he was rehabbing. He said last week that he would return to face Crystal Palace this Saturday, but that appears no longer to be the case. Mario Balotelli will continue to lead the Liverpool attack.

Sturridge said Saturday that he will be fit for face Cyrstal Palace on Nov. 23, according to James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo.

Sturridge will obviously not play Saturday against Chelsea, but he returns for Liverpool's next match after the international break. He will not play for England during the break, giving him extra time to recover from the calf injury he suffered while recovering from a thigh issue.

Sturridge will not play in Saturday's Premier League match against Chelsea due to his ongoing calf issue. "He's out on the field today with the rehab team, but he's moving very well," manager Brendan Rodgers said Thursday. "But he's probably a little bit of time away."

Liverpool are desperate to get Sturridge back on the pitch, but he will be held out once again with the hope that he'll be fully fit after the upcoming international break. Mario Balotelli is expected to start up front once again, with Fabio Borini another possibility.

Sturridge continues to recover from his calf injury, but he may not be able to return until after the international break, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed Thursday that Sturridge is unlikely to play in the Champions League against Real Madrid next week, and will likely stay back rather than join the England squad for Euro 2016 qualifiers against Slovenia and Scotland during next month's international break.

Sturridge, who was set to possibly return Sunday against QPR after missing more than a month with a thigh injury picked up while on international duty, has been ruled out for two to four more weeks after picking up a calf injury in training, Sky Sports reprots. "Daniel has pulled his calf," manager Brendan Rodgers said. "He's look at being out for another two to four weeks. It's a big blow as we were looking forward to welcoming Daniel back."

With the new timeline, Sturridge could miss up to seven matches, including two Champions League ties with Real Madrid. Mario Balotelli will likely continue to start up front for the Reds, with Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert also getting time in Sturridge's absence.

Sturridge faces a late fitness test for Sunday's match at QPR due to his thigh injury. "We'll have to see (Saturday) how Dan is," manager Brendan Rodgers said. "We just need to see by tomorrow where he's at and then we'll take it from there."

Sturridge was fully expected to return for Sunday's game following a fairly lengthy layoff from a thigh injury he picked up while training with the England national team back in September. If he is able to return Saturday, it surely doesn't sound like he'll be fit to play a full game.

Sturridge (thigh) is not in the 18-man squad to face West Brom on Saturday.

Sturridge was a long-shot to make the team due to his thigh injury, but he will now get the international break to finish his recovery and he will likely return Oct. 19 against QPR.
