Bale is expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks because of the calf injury he suffered during Saturday's match against Malaga, ESPN FC reports.

Bale couldn't play even five minutes Saturday before feeling something in his calf, and the injury will keep him out of Wednesday's Champions League match against Atletico Madrid, plus a number of La Liga ties. Real Madrid will also be without Luka Modric, who is out for six weeks with a knee injury, with Isco likely to replace one of them.

Bale produced three shots as Real Madrid defeated Rayo Vallecano 2-0 Wednesday.

All three of Bales's shots were off target as he struggled to affect the game. The Welshman did however find the net on 23 minutes but it was rightly ruled out for offside. He made some good forward runs and looked lively but was eventually replaced by Chicharito on 90 minutes.

Bale rounded the goalkeeper with ease after 25 minutes to send Real on the way to an emphatic victory. He then set-up Cristiano Ronaldo to complete the forward's hat-trick and later assisted Ronaldo's fifth on 54 minutes.
