Balotelli has been suspended for Sunday's Premier League match against Arsenal for posting a racist message on his Instagram account, the Independent reports.

Balotelli is currently recovering from a groin injury and had a chance to return this weekend, but with Liverpool unlikely to appeal the charge, he will sit out and try to be available to face Burnley on Boxing Day.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Balotelli will not play in Wednesday's Capital One Cup match against Bournemouth after aggravating his groin injury Saturday against Manchester United, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Balotelli was left to train at Melwood with the hope that he will be available for Sunday's Premier League match against Arsenal. If he is unable to play, Rickie Lambert could start again in his place, though Liverpool went with Raheem Sterling to lead the line last weekend against United.

Balotelli, who missed more than a month with a groin injury, came on at halftime and finished with seven shots, including four on goal, during Liverpool's 3-0 loss to Manchester United.

Balotelli had a great opportunity in front of goal saved by United keeper David de Gea, who was excellent yet again. Balotelli didn't appear to be bothered by his groin at all, and he'll likely be heavily used in the coming matches as manager Brendan Rodgers continues to search for an offensive spark while Daniel Sturridge (thigh) is sidelined.

Balotelli (groin) has trained fully this week and could return for Sunday's match against Manchester United, manager Brendan Rodgers said Friday.

Given that he still has to pass a late fitness test, it appears unlikely that Balotelli will get the full go-ahead to start the match, which obviously makes him a very questionable fantasy play this weekend.

Balotelli (groin) continues to rehab with Liverpool's medical staff, but manager Brendan Rodgers had no timeline for Balotelli's recovery during his press conference Thursday, saying only "Hopefully he'll be available sooner rather than later.".

Balotelli has not played since Nov. 8 against Chelsea, and is still scoreless in Premier League play this season. Rickie Lambert will continue to lead the attack, with Fabio Borini available as well.

Balotelli (groin) will be facing an FA investigation into alleged anti-Semitic posts from the striker, reports Sky Sports.

Balotelli deleted the posts, and also moved to say that the interpretations were not what he intended. He remains out of action due to a groin injury.

Balotelli has yet to return to full training due to the groin ailment, which has allowed Rickie Lambert to start in his place.

Balotelli did not travel to Bulgaria for Wednesday's Champions League match against Ludogorets because of a groin injury, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Balotelli suffered the injury over the international break and was unable to play in last Sunday's 3-1 loss at Crystal Palace. Rickie Lambert, who scored Liverpool's lone goal against Palace, could get another start, with Fabio Borini another possibility.
