Villa was dominant on Sunday against New England, finishing with six shots, one assist and his first MLS goal in a 2-0 NYC victory.

After being held off of the score-sheet last week versus Orlando, Villa bounced back with a performance more in line with his expectations for the year. He will look to keep it up on Saturday versus Colorado.

Villa assisted on Mix Diskerud's goal during NYC FC's 1-1 draw with Orlando City SC on Sunday.

Villa was kept off the ball for much of the second half, but he was very active in the second and had a perfect little pass to Diskerud, who powered home from just inside the box. Villa will continue to be at the middle of the NYC FC attack this season, and he'll look for his first goal next Sunday at home against New England.

Villa was named captain of NYC FC on Sunday.

Villa was the first big signing for the expansion club and will be starting the season with the team right away, unlike fellow designated player Frank Lampard, who will join in July. Villa still has an elite goal-scoring ability and could be a solid fantasy option this season.

Villa scored in the 36th minute of Spain's 3-0 win over Australia in the World Cup on Monday.

Villa's goal was his ninth in his World Cup career and 59th international goal, both of which top the Spain all-time list. With Spain already eliminated from knockout stage contention, it is possible that Monday's effort was Villa's last in a Spanish kit.

Villa will join Melbourne City on loan from New York City FC until the MLS season begins, reports Sky Sports. Villa will join Melbourne in October and come back to the states in December.

Villa just joined New York City FC from Barcelona, and it was always likely that he would secure a loan until the MLS season begins in March of 2015, the only question was where. It is now official that he will play in Australia's A-League.

Villa officially signed with New York City FC on Monday, becoming the first player in team history, the club's official web site reports.

NYC FC will begin playing next season, but are coming out of the gates with a bang thanks to the Villa signing. He spent a majority of this career with FC Barcelona, before moving to Atletico Madrid last year. He is coming off a La Liga crown and a Champions League finals appearance, and he easy becomes one of the biggest names in MLS. It is unclear what he will do before the 2015 season starts, although a loan to Manchester City, who co-owns NYC FC, has been ruled out.

Villa was spotted in Manchester, England to undergo a physical ahead of a potential move to MLS side New York City FC, the Manchester Evening News reports.

NYCFC don't launch until next spring, but they are desperately trying to enter the league with a bang, and signing the 32-year-old Spaniard would certainly be a hit. Villa is not expected to play for Manchester City at all after representing Spain in this summer's World Cup.
