Ochoa sat on the bench for Malaga's La Liga opener Saturday against Athletic Club, where he watched Carlos Kameni record a five-save clean sheet in a 1-0 win.

Ochoa became a star during the World Cup for Mexico, becoming a hot commodity as a free agent with his contract at Ajaccio expired. However, few of the bigger clubs looked his way, and Malaga finally came calling even though he'd be used as a backup. It appears his World Cup glory is as high as it's going to get, unless something happens to Kameni that would thrust Ochoa in the starting XI.

Ochoa has signed with Málaga, Goal.com reports.

Fresh off some standout showings for Mexico in the World Cup, Ochoa became a hot commodity, attracting interest from a number of clubs across the world. The 29-year old has decided to head to Málaga and will make a big jump from French side Ajaccio, who were just relegated from Ligue 1. Ochoa, who has earned 63 caps for his country, should immediately step in and be the first-choice goalkeeper in place of the departed Willy Caballero.

Ochoa made six saves, including a number of remarkable denials, in Mexico's scoreless draw with Brazil in the World Cup on Tuesday.

Ochoa was an absolute brick wall against the host nation, stopping numerous chances, including a highlight reel save off a Neymar header. With four points through two matches, the Mexicans are in a solid position to advance to the knockout stage with at least a point against Croatia in their final match.

Ochoa needed to make only one save in Mexico's 1-0 win over Cameroon in their Group A opener Friday at the World Cup.

Cameroon registered 13 shots on the day, but only one was on target. Ochoa will likely have a much tougher time in Mexico's next two matches against Brazil and Croatia, respectively.

Ochoa made nine saves, including a penalty-kick stop during stoppage time, to earn Ajaccio a 2-2 draw versus Toulouse on Saturday.

Ochoa put together an enormous display to prevent Toulouse from climbing the Ligue 1 table. Although Ajaccio currently sits in last place and have allowed the most goals in France this season, Saturday's performance certainly serves as a highlight for Ochoa.
