Toure announced his retirement from international competition with the Ivory Coast but is expected to rejoin Liverpool for their match against Besiktas on Thursday, the Daily Star reports.

Toure will end his international career on a high as he led the Ivory Coast to victory in the Africa Cup of Nations. Although, Toure will continue playing for Liverpool as they compete in the Europa League Round of 32 on Thursday. The 33-year-old will almost certainly assume his normal role in the starting XI moving forward.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Toure could be unavailable for Liverpool for up to a month as he joins up with the Ivory Coast team for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Toure has been a consistent starter of late, though he certainly isn't irreplaceable for manager Brendan Rodgers, who just got Dejan Lovren back.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Toure will be available for Sunday's Premier League match against Manchester United after being held out of Tuesday's Champions League match against FC Basel with a groin injury.

Toure is not the sexiest fantasy pick out there, but he's gotten consistent playing time and has even posted clean sheets in two of his last three matches. That being said, he is a very tough play Sunday against a Manchester United squad that is playing very well of late.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Toure was ruled out for Tuesday's Champions League match due to a groin injury.

Toure has been starting for the Reds lately and has been a decent fantasy contributor with the defensive play improving. However, it is unclear how long the current injury will sidelined him, so he should be considered a doubt for Sunday's match at Manchester United.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Toure was included in the squad for Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Southampton on Sunday, but didn't play.

Toure, who recently turned down an opportunity to leave Liverpool for first team action elsewhere, made his way onto the bench Sunday, but looks to be the third choice center-back behind Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel. Once Dainel Agger returns to fitness, Toure will likely be pushed even further down the depth chart, and is therefore unlikely to see any playing time going forward.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Toure, who appeared headed to Turkish side Trabzonspor, has declared that he will fight for his spot at Liverpool, ESPN FC reports.

With Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren the likely starting pair in central-defense, and Mamadou Sakho the first one off the bench, it is unclear where Toure thinks he fits in the lineup. With Liverpool competing in the Champions League this season, it's possible that Toure believes he'll get more playing time just based on the number of matches they'll be playing, but it's tough to see him as an integral part of the team during Premier League play.

Trabzonspor are working to finalize a transfer agreement for Toure from Liverpool, reports Sky Sports.

The Turkish side attempted a transfer move for the defender earlier this summer, which failed. The team says they have agreed to terms with the player, and are attempting to finalize any details.

Toure was named to the Ivory Coast 23-man World Cup squad Monday despite being diagnosed with malaria last week, the Associated Press reports.

Toure is expected to be healthy enough to participate, but coming down with the illness so close to the World Cup certainly isn't going to help against Japan, Colombia and Greece in the group stage.
