Diarra (knee) was available for West Ham during last weekend's match against Liverpool, but he did not make an appearance.

Diarra suffered a serious knee injury back in August, so it's very surprising that he was able to be considered fit enough for action just four months later. While he didn't get off the bench, it's certainly encouraging that he was fit enough to even be in uniform. Regardless of his return to fitness, he remains a weak fantasy option.

Diarra will miss the rest of the Premier League season after tearing his ACL during Tuesday's Capital One Cup match against Cheltenham, the Mirror reports.

Diarra, who spent the second half of last season on loan to Rennes, was originally signed from Marseille in 2012. He was only able to play 34 minutes before the injury, an unfortunate blow to a West Ham team that is still waiting on Andy Carroll's (heel) return.

West Ham United confirmed that Diarra has joined Rennes, of French Ligue 1, on loan for the remainder of the season ESPN soccernet reports.

Diarra joined West Ham from Marseille for 2 million last summer but has made just one Premier League start. He has said that he "wasted his time" in joining West Ham, so he is not expected to be back in the Premier League anytime soon, if ever.

While France boss seemed to trivialize the injury, we've seen all too many times that a nagging hamstring knock can linger on for weeks, if not months.

Diarra scored in the 83rd minute to draw Bordeaux even with Chelsea as the score held up and the sides ended with a 1-1 draw.

Bordeaux was very much against the run of play most of the game, but as Chelsea is prone to doing, they let Bordeaux hang around, and they paid for it. Diarra's goal now leaves Roma, Chelsea and Bordeaux all within a point of each other going into the final day of group play in two weeks.
