Distin suffered a groin injury during Tuesday's FA Cup match against West Ham and will be assessed ahead of Saturday's match against Everton.

John Stones is likely to get the start if Distin is unable to go, though the matchup against a high-scoring City side isn't a great one from a fantasy perspective.

Distin is set to face Aston Villa this weekend after missing time recently with dead leg, manager Roberto Martinez said Thursday.

Distin has struggled to stay fully fit this season, but with John Stones out for 10 weeks after having ankle surgery, Distin will be thrown back into the mix against an Aston Villa attack that will welcome back Christian Benteke.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez said Thursday that he expect Distin to be fit to face Aston Villa on Oct. 18 after the international break. "Sylvain needed a bit of a rest," Martinez said. "He has played a lot of football in pre-season and he is someone who we need to manage his amount of games and his input. He is fully fit, has trained really well and is ready to fight for a place in the team."

Distin should be able to to grab his spot in the starting XI back with John Stones now sidelined for 10-to-14 weeks with an ankle injury. Nevertheless, his fantasy value is very dependent on clean sheets, something the Everton defense have struggled with this season.

Distin (knock) has been sidelined over the last three matches by manager Roberto Martinez despite being "fully fit," the Echo reports.

Martinez is openly limiting the 36-year-old's work load this year so Distin will be available for the long haul of the season. Keeping this in mind, it would be hard to justify owning Distin when there are other options around the league that get consistent playing time.

Distin, who suffered a hamstring injury back on April 20 against Manchester United, did not come off the bench during Saturday's 3-2 loss to Manchester City.

Distin likely would not have provided much fantasy value in defense against Manchester City. He will look to return to the pitch for the final match of the season against Hull City and should have good value should he return.

Distin has been given a 50/50 chance to return for Saturday's match against Manchester City, reports Sky Sports. He missed last week's match against Southampton with a hamstring injury and is fighting to get back in time for Everton's crucial battle.

Even if Distin is able to play this weekend, a clean sheet from Everton is highly unlikely. He has not produced any goals or assists this season to provide value outside of keeping a clean sheet.

Distin will not play this weekend against Southampton due to the hamstring injury he suffered last weekend against Manchester United, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Manager Roberto Martinez also intimated that Distin could be lost of the remainder of the season, with that determination likely to be made within the next few days.

Distin suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's match against Manchester United and will have a scan Monday to determine the severity of the injury, the club's official web site reports. "If it's damaged, it will be difficult for him to play again this season, But, if not, maybe a week or 10 days he will be fine," manager Roberto Martinez said after the match.

Antolin Alcaraz, who has battled injuries for much of the season, came on for Distin and will likely take his place in the starting XI for the rest of the season. Phil Jagielka is also a possibility, although he is dealing with an on-going hamstring injury himself.
