Downing scored in the 56th minute of West Ham's 2-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday, his second goal in as many games.

Downing's two-game goal streak was preceded by back-to-back games with assists, as he continues to play a vital part of the Hammers' attack. With four goals and six assists in 16 matches this season, Downing is putting himself firmly in the upper-tier of fantasy midfielders, though he'll have a tough time extending his streak with a Boxing Day trip to Stamford Bridge up next.

Downing (knee) managed to play the full 90 against Newcastle on Saturday and took three shots, although he was unable to put one through.

Downing was dealing with a knee injury heading into Saturday's match but appears to available moving forward. West Ham faces West Brom on Tuesday and Downing will be looking to add onto the two goals and four assists that he's already accumulated this season.

Downing (knee) participated in first-team training Thursday and is expected to face Newcastle on Saturday, the club's official website reports.

Downing picked up the knee injury over the international break with England and was held out of last weekend's match against Everton. However, he looks poised to return and should be in the starting XI against a Newcastle side that has been fairly good defensively of late, but could be missing starting goalkeeper Tim Krul (knock).

Downing (knee) is not in the 18-man squad to face Everton on Saturday.

Downing picked up the injury in the second game of the international break and he'll have to sit for at least one match, with his next opportunity to play Nov. 29 against Newcastle.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

After failing to take a shot in back-to-back matches, Downing has taken eight in his last two, though only one has made it on goal, and he has not registered an assist since Sept. 20 against Liverpool.

Despite the dry spell, Downing continues to be a very important player for West Ham, though he'll lose one of his favorite pass targets with Diafra Sakho sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Downing scored on a fine solo effort in West Ham's victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Downing cut in and curled a well-placed left-footed shot into the back of the net to give the Hammers a 2-0 advantage. The winger is locked into a starting role for West Ham and is already well on his way to topping his underwhelming totals (one goal and two assists in 29 league appearances) from 2013-14.

Downing scored from a free kick in the 44th minute of West Ham's 2-0 defeat of Tottenham on Saturday.

Downing has one goal and two assists on the season heading into the final match against his former club. The shine has certainly worn off since Downing's high priced move to Liverpool back in 2011, and the veteran winger can safely be ignored by fantasy owners heading into next year.

Downing assisted on Kevin Nolan's 46th minute goal in West Ham's 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.

Downing has had a disappointing season thus far after making the move from Liverpool to Upton Park. The Englishman likes to play a lot of crosses into the box, but doesn't end up on the scoresheet often enough to warrant much fantasy consideration.
