Zabaleta has been ruled out for a month after suffering a knee injury in training.

Based on the timeline, Zabaleta, who has yet to feature this season after a late start following the Copa America, could miss up to six games due to the ailment. It's the first serious injury he has sustained as a professional, and it will leave Bacary Sagna as the only right back on the first team.

Aleksandar Kolarov has always been a very solid attacking fullback, but his consistency in Manchester City's starting lineup this season has skyrocketed his fantasy value.

Zabaleta is available off the bench Monday against West Brom.

Zabaleta started preseason training late because of Copa America, so he always seemed like a long shot to start Monday. Bacary Sagna will get the start in Zabaleta's place.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Zabaleta has been deemed fit to play Monday against West Brom, though he may be rested following his late start to preseason after the Copa America.

If Zabaleta does not start Monday, he is likely to get back on the pitch the following weekend against Chelsea. Bacary Sagna is the likeliest candidate to replace Zabaleta in the starting lineup Monday.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Zabaleta will not play in the Premier League season opener against West Brom on Aug. 10 after participating in the Copa America with Argentina, according to Stu Brennan of the Manchester Evening News.

The news isn't overly surprising, as Zabaleta was given a holiday while the rest of the club went to Australia for the International Champions Cup. If he only misses the opener, Zabaleta could be back in the lineup Aug. 16 against Chelsea.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Zabaleta assisted on Sergio Aguero's 89th-minute goal during Manchester City's 4-2 loss to Manchester United on Sunday.

Zabaleta's assist was his fourth of the season, but first since Dec. 20, and his only goal of the season came back on Dec. 3 against Sunderland.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Zabaleta had a team-high seven tackles, as well as five clearances and two interceptions during Sunday's 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Zabaleta was a fantasy star in leagues that reward stats beyond clean sheets, though the two goals allowed certainly didn't help. He'll look to bounce back Thursday at home against Sunderland.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Zabaleta scored his first goal of the season during Manchester City's 4-1 win over Sunderland on Wednesday.

Zabaleta hasn't been nearly as active in the attack this season as last term, and the City defense has been up and down in terms of clean sheets. Things don't figure to get much easier this weekend, as they'll travel to Goodison Park to take on an Everton side scoring well lately.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Zabaleta is not in the 18-man squad for Saturday's Premier League match against Tottenham, with Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News speculating that he is being rested after two international games for Argentina in Asia and Manchester City having seven games in 21 games.

Zabaleta not even making the bench is quite surprising, as City will have only Aleksander Kolarov and Dedryck Boyata available off the bench. Bacary Sagna gets the start against Spurs in Zabaleta's place.
