AZ Alkmaar announced Sunday that they will not extend a contract offer to Adu, who spent the last week on trial at the club.

Adu continues to search for a place to call home and he obviously is willing to play anywhere. As for right now, he'll continue to look for trials while training on his own.

Adu is currently on trial at Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, the club announced Sunday.

After the success of American strikers Jozy Altidore and Aron Johannsson at AZ, the club decided to give the much-maligned Adu a shot. Still only 25 years old, Adu has bounced around international soccer for most of his career, most recently making two appearances for Bahia in Brazil's second division last year.

Adu has been given license to do his thing in Philadelphia. Since Adu has had the shackles removed from his game, Philly has a 4-0 win over Kansas City, a win over L.A and now a dismantling of Toronto.

Adu turned home a loose ball with his back heel to grab the winner for Philadelphia in Saturday's 1-0 triumph over Chivas USA in Southern California.

It was Freddy's first of the season, as he once again has landed somewhere that he isn't getting the playing time that American soccer fans wish he would get.

Adu toyed with the Mexican defense all night as the USA U-23 National Team went on to a dominant 2-0 win over Mexico.

Adu sent in a shot that deflected off of Mikkel Diskerud for the United States' second goal. His speed and skill down the wing was way too much for El Tri to handle in what was an absolutely stifling display for the red, white and blue.

The Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer have acquired Adu, the New York Times reports.

Adu returns to MLS, where he'll be reuinted with former coach Peter Nowak, his head coach at DC United. Adu signed with Benfica of Portugal in 2007, but has been loaned out to several lower leagues, last year playing for Caykur Rizespor in the Turkish second division. His recent strong play in the Concacaf Gold Cup for Team USA and a return to MLS will hopefully turnaround his one promising career.

Adu set up fellow American Eddie Johnson for Aris' lone goal in Sunday's 2-1 loss to Xanthi.

It was an absolutely terrific pass, and nice to see the two Americans team up. Finally a positive sign from Adu.
