Bent was on the 18-man roster during Saturday's match with Stoke City, but he was ultimately never subbed in.

Bent had an outside shot to reclaim his former glory with the Villans, however if Saturday was any indication of things to come, the 30-year-old will have a hard time finding room on the pitch this season. To make matters worse, the young duo of Leandro Bacuna (22) and Jack Grealish (18) were substituted on while Bent stayed on the bench.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bent has competed in four preseason friendlies while netting two goals.

Bent might ultimately be on the outside looking in when it comes to the starting XI for Villa this season. Even with injuries to Christian Benteke (Achilles) and Libor Kozak (leg) that will leave them sidelined to start the season, Bent will at best share time up front with Gabriel Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann.

Ason Villa manager Paul Lambert is expected to bring Bent back into the fold after the squad tried to sell him last summer and sent him on loan to Fulham, reports the Daily Mail.

Bent was deemed surplus to Villa last season due to his high wage bill, and was frozen out of the squad. His loan with Fulham produced three goals from 19 shots during the season, though.

Bent was credited with an assist during Saturday's 4-1 loss to Stoke City.

Bent has had a quiet season for Fulham, scoring three goals and adding another two assists in 13 appearances. With Fulham being relegated next season, it will be interesting to see if the club will try to retain Bent or if he will be sent back to his parent club, Aston Villa.

Bent was an unused substitute during Sunday's match with Everton. Fulham manager Felix Magath said Bent stayed on the bench due to a knock picked up during midweek training, the Swindon Advertiser" reports. However, Bent disputes the claim saying he practiced in full the Saturday before the match.

Injured or not, Bent has played just 14 minutes of Fulham's last four matches. It appears Magath has decided to use some of the younger striker options on the squad as the team fights to avoid relegation.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bent was in Fulham's Starting XI for Saturday's match against Chelsea. Despite not attempting any shots, he did provide some fantasy value by picking up an assist.

Bent has not started consecutive Premier League matches for Fulham since the end of November. In limited action this season, he has scored three goals and now has one assist.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bent returned to Fulham's Starting XI for Wednesday's match against Liverpool. Despite the increase in playing time, he finished the match with just one shot attempt and no other fantasy production.

Bent is currently tied for second amongst active Fulham players for goals scored this season. With the departure of Dimitar Berbatov, Bent was expected to fill his role and gain more playing time. However, Bent has started just two matches in 2014. If he begins to see consistent time in the Starting XI he could be a very productive fantasy option.

Bent scored off a header in stoppage time to pull Fulham even with Manchester United on Sunday.

After Bent received the nod in Fulham's starting XI last weekend, there was hope that he would see an increase in playing time after the departure of Dimitar Berbatov. That was not the case, as Bent started the match on the bench, but was still able to provide good fantasy value with a goal. Wednesday's match against Liverpool will provide a good indication of Bent's role with the team going forward.
