Messi came on in the 57th minute of Saturday's match against Real Madrid, finishing with two shots and one foul drawn in his first game since suffering a knee injury Sept. 26 against Las Palmas.

Barcelona have been dominant even without Messi, and they took a 3-0 lead Saturday before he even entered the match. Luis Suarez (two goals) and Neymar (one goal and one assist) led the dominant performance Saturday, and all three are likely to start together for Tuesday's Champions League match against Roma.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Messi is expected to miss 7-to-8 weeks because of the knee injury he suffered Saturday against Las Palmas.

Messi suffered the injury early in Saturday's match and had to come off before the 10-minute mark. Barcelona went on to win thanks to a Luis Suarez brace, and he'll likely shoulder much of the scoring load during Messi's absence, with Neymar also stepping up. Messi's injury is a huge blow to Barcelona, though they have enough talent to maintain their high spot in La Liga and the group stage of the Champions League.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Messi had scans on his knee at a hospital after injuring it Saturday against Las Palmas, and he was seen limping out of the building, according to AS.

Messi's limp was considerable, and while the results of the scans haven't been made public yet, he's likely looking at a decent absence. There has been talk that he could return within three weeks, though nothing can be decided until the results have been reviewed.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Messi suffered a knee injury during Saturday's match against Las Palmas and had to be subbed off in the 10th minute.

Messi has been incredibly fit during his career, so a serious injury would be a huge blow to Barcelona and fantasy owners. Luis Suarez and Neymar are still more than capable of leading the line, but losing arguably the best player in the world will hurt.

Messi took a season-high 10 shots and scored two goals, while assisting on a third, during Barcelona's 4-1 win over Levante on Sunday.

Messi dropped back and played in the No. 10 role Sunday, and while Bayern failed to score in the first half, the poured it on in the second frame, with Marca Bartra and Neymar adding to Messi's tally. His day could have been even better, but he missed a penalty in the 75th minute after converted in the 61st. Nevertheless, he's still arguably the best player in the world and an excellent fantasy option in all formats.

Messi missed from the penalty spot in the 31st minute, but still finished with four shots, including two on goal, during Barcelona's 1-0 win over Athletic Club on Sunday.

Messi missing a penalty is nothing new, but he's still likely to take them for Barcelona when the time comes. One missed penalty hurts for fantasy purposes this week, but Messi remains arguably the best player in the world.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Messi enjoyed another incredible season as he scored 58 goals and supplied 23 assists in all competitions.

After a down season by his standards (if you can say that about 36 goals) Messi was at his best again this time around and racked up an incredible 17 multi-goal games en route to the treble. There is seemingly not enough money in the world for a club to pry the Argentine away from Barcelona and he will be back in action for the Spanish giants next season.

Messi was held off of the scoresheet in Barcelona's 3-2 loss to Bayern Munich on Tuesday, attempting two shots as his team held on to advance.

The Argentine was actually directly involved in both of Barca's goals, but Luis Suarez unselfishly decided to pass to a wide open Neymar on each occasion, denying Messi a pair of assists. While this is a tough pill to swallow for fantasy owners, Messi will not care one iota as he makes his return to the Champions League Final. He is still a top play every time out and will look to get back on the board versus Atletico Madrid this weekend.
