Messi scored from the spot in the 54th minute of Tuesday's 2-0 Champions League win at Manchester City.

Messi drew the penalty himself after getting taken down my Martin Demichelis. Replays showed that the foul occurred just outside the box, although the referee had already rewarded a penalty kick. The goal was Messi's first at a Premier League ground, and put plenty of pressure on Manchester City in the second leg.

Messi is not expected to be in the starting XI, but will be available off the bench, for Saturday's La Liga match against Atletico Madrid, Marca reports.

Messi returned Wednesday during Barcelona's Copa del Rey match against Getafe, the first time he's played in nearly two months due to a hamstring injury. He made quite an impact, coming on in the 64th minute and then scoring twice in the match's final five minutes. While he may not be able to start Saturday's match, he's proven time and time again that he doesn't need much time on the pitch to make a big impact.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Messi, who has returned to training following a hamstring injury and was held out of Sunday's clash with Elche, could be held out of next weekend's La Liga match against Atletico Madrid, Goal.com reports. Manager Gerardo Martino said "Messi is fine, but I don't know if he'll be able to play against Atletico. He has trained well though, and looks good physically and mentally. I haven't decided on a team for the Copa del Rey game [on Wednesday] yet, let alone next weekend."

Messi hasn't exactly been ruled out, but Martino seems pretty intent on ensuring that Messi is truly 100 percent before putting him back on the pitch. When he does, Messi will vault back into the top tier of fantasy strikers, alongside with Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Costa.
