Demichelis will not play in the Premier League opener against West Brom on Aug. 10, as he was given a late holiday after participating in the Copa America, according to Stu Brennan of the Manchester Evening News.

Eliaquim Mangala will likely get the start alongside Vincent Kompany in the opener, something that is likely to happen quite often this season if he plays well. If Demichelis only misses the first game, he could be available Aug. 16 against Chelsea.

Demichelis headed home the equalizer in the 83rd minute of Manchester City's 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Saturday.

While Demichelis' clean sheet was gone after Jack Wilshere's 63rd-minute goal, he made up for it by heading home Aleksander Kolarov's corner kick. Eliaquim Mangala has returned to fitness, so it could be only a matter of time before Demichelis loses his spot in the starting XI.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Demichelis picked up a yellow card, but gave fantasy owners a clean sheet in the opening weekend during Manchester City's 2-0 win over Newcastle on Sunday.

Demichelis' spot in the starting XI is in jeopardy after City acquired Eliaquim Mangala from Porto earlier this week. With Mangala not having enough training time with the first-team this week, Demichelis got the opening start, but it could be only a matter of time before Mangala takes over. Up next is a very tough defensive matchup against Liverpool at the Etihad.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Demichelis picked up a straight red card for taking down Lionel Messi near the 18-yard box in the 53rd minute of Manchester City's 0-2 loss to Barcelona on Tuesday.

Demichelis will now be banned for the second leg, a vital match for Man City, who will have to make up a two-goal difference in order to advance. Demichelis' foul on Messi ended up with the Argentine striker being awarded a penalty kick, despite replays showing the foul occurred just outside the box.

Demichelis (hamstring) is available off the bench for Wednesday's FA Cup match against Blackburn.

Demichelis has been battling a hamstring injury recently, but he's clearly fit enough to at least be available off the bench Wednesday. If he's able to get on the pitch, he could get back in the starting XI for Saturday's Premier League match against Cardiff City.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Demichelis was unable to play in Thursday's match against Liverpool due to a hamstring injury, the Daily Mail reports.

As a result of the injury, Demichelis is certainly an injury doubt for Saturday's Premier League match against Crystal Palace.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Demichelis flicked a header to Sergio Aguero for a goal in the 14th minute of Manchester City's 6-3 win over Arsenal on Saturday.

Demichelis flicked a header again later in the match, except that it ended up in a goal for Theo Walcott. The assist to Aguero was Demichelis' first of the year in eight appearances. He seems to have solidified a spot in the City starting XI, although Pablo Zabaleta has much more fantasy upside.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Demichelis (knee) is in the starting XI for Sunday's Premier League match against Chelsea.

Demichelis makes his debut for City after initially injuring his knee only days after his transfer this summer. It's a tough first match but manager Manuel Pelligrini is clearly confident that the Argentinian is ready.
