Demichelis picked up a straight red card for taking down Lionel Messi near the 18-yard box in the 53rd minute of Manchester City's 0-2 loss to Barcelona on Tuesday.

Demichelis will now be banned for the second leg, a vital match for Man City, who will have to make up a two-goal difference in order to advance. Demichelis' foul on Messi ended up with the Argentine striker being awarded a penalty kick, despite replays showing the foul occurred just outside the box.

Demichelis (hamstring) is available off the bench for Wednesday's FA Cup match against Blackburn.

Demichelis has been battling a hamstring injury recently, but he's clearly fit enough to at least be available off the bench Wednesday. If he's able to get on the pitch, he could get back in the starting XI for Saturday's Premier League match against Cardiff City.

Demichelis was unable to play in Thursday's match against Liverpool due to a hamstring injury, the Daily Mail reports.

As a result of the injury, Demichelis is certainly an injury doubt for Saturday's Premier League match against Crystal Palace.

Demichelis flicked a header to Sergio Aguero for a goal in the 14th minute of Manchester City's 6-3 win over Arsenal on Saturday.

Demichelis flicked a header again later in the match, except that it ended up in a goal for Theo Walcott. The assist to Aguero was Demichelis' first of the year in eight appearances. He seems to have solidified a spot in the City starting XI, although Pablo Zabaleta has much more fantasy upside.

Demichelis (knee) is in the starting XI for Sunday's Premier League match against Chelsea.

Demichelis makes his debut for City after initially injuring his knee only days after his transfer this summer. It's a tough first match but manager Manuel Pelligrini is clearly confident that the Argentinian is ready.

Demichelis (knee) played 45 minutes in a Manchester City elite developmental squad game Wednesday but likely won't be ready for Saturday's Premier League match against West Ham, the Daily Mail reports.

If Demichelis is unable to be fit for Saturday's match, his next opportunity to play comes Wednesday against CSKA Moscow in a Champions League match. If the club sits him then, his next Premier League opportunity comes October 27 against Chelsea.

Demichelis has suffered a knee ligament injury that will sideline him for the next six weeks, the Mirror reports.

Demichelis joined City just last Sunday in a 3.8 million move from Atletico Madrid and went down with his injury during his first training session with the club. It is believed that he will not need surgery, but he is out until mid-October at best. He was headed to have plenty of playing time early on, with Vincent Kompany (thigh) out with injury, not to mention Matija Nastasic just returning from an ankle injury himself. However, Demichelis will have to wait for his chance now.

Demichelis officially signed a two-year contract with Manchester City on Monday. ESPN reports the transfer fee will net Atletico Madrid 3.5 million.

Demichelis joins back up with Manuel Pellegrini, who coached the defender when the two were at Malaga. Manchester's back four have been hit hard with injuries, so there's potential that Demichelis could play right away.
