Xavi (calf) has been cleared to train, and he could feature in Monday's preseason friendly against Club Leon, Barca's official website reports.

Xavi isn't expected to have as big of a role this year as in year's past, and it undoubtedly appears to be his last with Barcelona. If he is able to train fully this week, he may be available for the La Liga opener Sunday against Elche.

There has been talk of a three-year contract for around $8 million per season, which would make him one of the highest paid players in the United States.

Xavi picked up a hamstring strain in training this week and is a doubt for Barcelona's La Liga match against Granada on Saturday, according to ESPN FC.

Xavi took the international break off instead of traveling with the Spain squad for friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and South Africa, so the injury is quite unfortunate given his lack of match action. He hasn't been officially ruled out of this weekend's match but it doesn't appear like he'll be 100 percent if he does feature.
