RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bendtner’s contract with Wolfsburg was terminated with immediate effect Monday, the club reports.

So comes to an end a tumultuous relationship between Danish striker Bendtner and Wolfsburg. The contract was intended to keep Bendtner with the club until June 2017 but was terminated early by mutual consent, as expectations were never achieved for either party. The Danish forward’s most successful season was in 2011-2012 when he was on loan with English side Sunderland and scored eight goals and five assists in 28 matches. He has since made brief unsuccessful appearances with Juventus and Arsenal before landing at Wolfsburg in 2014. Since joining the German side, he has only scored nine goals in 47 appearances. Although many clubs are in need of a striker, Bendtner may find fewer potential suitors than in prior years due to his reputation for oversleeping and missing training sessions. Wolfsburg may be active in the summer transfer market searching for a replacement up front to complement Bas Dost.

Bendtner failed to even make the bench for Wolfsburg's most recent Champions League contest against Gent.

Bendtner joined the German squad under some high expectations, however a lack of productivity, as he's logged a mere three goals in all competitions, has found him not only outside of the starting XI, but not even available as a substitute. The 28-year-old will likely look for a new home this summer, after failing to secure a transfer during the January window. Despite his club struggles, the forward has seen significant use by the Danish national team, where he has scored a pair of goals in 10 Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew said that he is considering a move to sign Bendtner after being made aware of his transfer availability, reports the Daily Mail.

Bendtner spent nine years with Arsenal before joining Wolfsburg in 2014. He has scored for goals so far this season in Germany and is not the preferred option for the club's starting XI.

Bendtner signed a three-year contract with VfL Wolfsburg on Friday.

Bendtner moves on a free transfer from Arsenal and will look get back to his scoring ways that he had a number of years ago. He fell out of favor with Arsenal and appears to be a bit of a consolation prize for Wolfsburg, who went after the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko earlier this summer.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Bendtner received his release from Arsenal on Friday, reports.

He was a seldom-used substitute over the just-completed BPL season, scoring twice. He's still just 26, so there's time to jump start his career somewhere else - but his form from the last few seasons has been maddening to watch. At one segment, Bendtner had a three-year drought between BPL goals.

Arsenal are investigating a reported incident at a nightclub in Denmark the night of the team's defeat to Bayern Munich in which Bendtner was alleged to have behaved improperly, reports the Daily Mail.

Various reports surfaced earlier this week about Bendtner's behavior Tuesday night, which the team has decided to investigate. Any discovery of poor behavior may be looked upon harshly by the club, especially for Bendtner, who has been considered surplus at the club for a while.

Bendtner is unavailable for Tuesday's Champions League game against Bayern Munich due to a knee injury, Oliver Kay of The Times reports.

With a healthy Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski, Bendtner was unlikely to see much playing time anyway.
