Shawcross (back) has been ruled out at Bournemouth for Saturday. He is progressing, but hasn't done enough physio sessions to be ready, according to manager Mark Hughes.

This doesn't help the Stoke City back line that has allowed nine goals in the last three matches without Shawcross and Geoff Cameron. Marc Muniesa started last week and may get the call again.

Shawcross (back) is expected to "be back very, very soon," manager Mark Hughes told the Stoke Sentinel on Monday.

Shawcross' back, which he had surgically repaired this past summer, tightened up in a match two weekends ago, and while he was not expected to be out for a considerable amount of time, the club had to be cautious given the summer procedure. With Geoff Cameron and Marc Wilson also sidelined, Marc Muniesa is expected to start alongside Philipp Wollscied.

Shawcross could be sidelined for up to a month due to the back injury he suffered Saturday against Leicester, the BBC reports.

Shawcross' back tightened up on his and apparently the issue is a little more serious than initially believed. Shawcross had surgery on his back this past summer before returning in October, though manager Mark Hughes confirmed the newest ailment is unrelated. Marc Muniesa could start in his place, as could Geoff Cameron if he can return from injury soon.

Shawcross left Saturday's match against Leicester City with a back injury.

Marc Wilson replaced Shawcross, who took a shot to his back earlier in the match and eventually called to come off. Shawcross has been a very solid option for Stoke this season, and his absence surely will be felt while Geoff Cameron is also out injured.

Shawcross is suspended for one game due to yellow card accumulation.

The center-back was shown yellow card twice resulting in automatic red card in the 47-th minute of the away loss to the Black Cats. Luckily for his fantasy owners he'll serve his suspension during the Tuesday's League Cup clash with Sheffield Wednesday and will slot right back into the starting XI for the mega-clash with league leaders - Man City.

Shawcross (back) started in the league Cup penalty shoot-out victory over Chelsea on Tuesday.

The central defender made his debut for the season and lasted the whole 120 minutes. He was the needed defensive boost for manager Mark Hughes. If stays healthy he should retain the starting role for good.

Shawcross (back) is not in the 18-man squad to face Watford on Saturday.

Shawcross is very close to making his season debut following August back surgery, but he's not quite there yet and will have to wait until next weekend's match against Newcastle to possibly return.

Shawcross could return from his back injury to play Saturday against Watford, manager Mark Hughes said Friday.

Shawcross hasn't played yet this season after having back surgery in August, but he's played three U-21 matches to build up his fitness. Geoff Cameron and Marc Muniesa getting most of the centerback starts, with Phillipp Wollscheid also getting a few opportunities.
