Manager Tim Sherwood said Thursday that Cissokho (groin) will not play Saturday against Swansea City but may be able to return against Manchester United on April 5.

Cissokho had been a fairly regular starter, though he hasn't played many games under new manager Tim Sherwood because of the ailment. Villa are also without Ron Vlaar (calf) for the Swansea match, though he is also expected to return to face United.

Cissokho (groin) is very unlikely to play in this weekend's FA Cup match against West Brom, manager Tim Sherwood said Thursday.

Cissokho had been getting regular starts, though with Sherwood at the helm, it's unclear if he'll maintain his spot. Either way, it seems possible that he could be available March 14 against Sunderland if he cannot face the Baggies.

Cissokho is an injury doubt for Saturday's match against Newcastle, manager Tim Sherwood said Thursday.

Cissokho had been a consistent starter earlier this season, though he came off the bench last weekend against Stoke and it's unclear if Sherwood has any plans to keep him on the bench consistently, which would obviously plummet his fantasy value.

Cissokho has made 10 appearances this season and seems to be firmly in the starting XI.

Cissokho has three clean sheets on the season but they all came towards the start of the year and Villa has since faltered. Considering that Villa has a hard time fortifying the goal, there are likely better options around the league than Cissokho.

Cissokho tallied his second clean sheet of the season Saturday after the 0-0 draw with Newcastle.

The newest member of Aston Villa has performed well so far during the first two matches of the season. His next task will come against Hull City on Sunday who will be yet another formidable foe, considering that they've already recorded four points after just Week 2 in the EPL season.

Cissokho notched a clean sheet in his first match for the Villains after he transferred from Valencia earlier this month. While it was a solid effort, it will get a little tougher next Saturday with Newcastle traveling to Villa Park.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Cissokho has signed a four-year deal with Aston Villa after transferring from Valencia.

Cissokho had a rather unspectacular loan spell at Liverpool last season, but gets another chance to prove his worth in the Premier League, this time with the Villans. Despite making only 15 appearances for the Reds in 2013-14, the French left back figures to be much more involved at Villa Park.

Cissokho got involved in his first Liverpool goal, delivering a cross which Luis Suarez headed in from 16 yards out during Saturday's match against West Brom.

Cissokho has been the Reds' starting left wing back while Jose Enrique (knee) deals with injury. After some time adjusting to the Premier League, the French international looks to be gaining confidence playing in manager Brendan Rodgers' system.
