Obertan has been out since November, so it's unsurprising that he's far from getting a start.

Obertan (hamstring) will miss an additional 3-to-4 months after undergoing hamstring surgery, Chris Waugh of Chronicle Live reports.

The 26-year-old has been slowed by this hamstring injury for much of the season thus far, but a training setback caused him to go under the knife and will force him out of the side for a lengthy spell. He collected one assist in six matches across all competitions this season.

Obertan is still three or four weeks out, according to Squawka News.

Obertan has been sidelined since the end of September with this hamstring injury. He's made five appearances this campaign and created three scoring chances, however he's out for at least three more weeks and once healthy he may not see the pitch regularly.

Obertan (hamstring) is not expected to return for another few weeks, the Shields Gazette reports.

Obertan picked up an assist in the season opener against Southampton but hasn't played since Sept. 26 against Chelsea due to his injury. He hasn't started a match since Aug. 22 and given his reduced playing time, he makes for a weak fantasy option in nearly all formats.

Obertan (hamstring) has been ruled out of Saturday's match against Manchester City. "Oberton and [Rolando] Aarons have fallen out (of the squad) this week," manager Steve McClaren said.

Obertan picked up the hamstring injury in the team's last match and while it was originally thought that he could play, he's been ruled out this week. This injury likely won't impact too many fantasy lineups.

Obertan swung in five crosses and provided an assist in Newcatle's 2-2 draw with Southampton on Sunday.

The Frenchman was very active on the wings and created several dangerous scoring chances for his teammates. Some key summer additions should bolster the Newcastle attack this season, and Obertan's fantasy output stands to benefit. The Magpies will face Swansea in Matchweek 2.

Obertan picked up a knock in Saturday's match against Liverpool and had to be subbed off in the 27th minute.

Obertan has been starting in place of the ineffective Remy Cabella, but it was youngster Rolando Aarons who replaced him, and he could very well keep that role if Obertan has to miss any time.

Obertan has vowed to continue proving himself to the club and fans after overcoming an exile at Newcastle by making his first home start in two seasons and scoring in the process, reports the Daily Mail.

The midfielder has been on the outskirts of Newcastle's squad for some time, but came back to earn some attention against Leicester. He said he would continue ignoring the critics and continue working on resurrecting his career.
