Neuer staked his claim as the top goalkeeper in the world this season, as he allowed just 38 goals in 47 appearances and kept an absurd 29 clean sheets.

The 29-year-old led Bayern to another Bundesliga title, allowing just 16 goals in 32 games, but the club failed to win any additional silverware. Neuer is under contract for four more seasons at Bayern, and will be back next year as the undisputed No. 1 as the German champions bounce back from what was a sub-par campaign by their standards.

Neuer conceded an early penalty Wednesday as Bayern Munich lost 3-1 to Porto in the Champions League.

Neuer had an uncharacteristically shaky game as Bayern suffered a shock loss in Portugal. The goalkeeper felled Porto's Jackson Martinez to concede a penalty after just three minutes and received a yellow card as further punishment. Neuer also spilled a first half shot onto the crossbar and produced some very questionable kicking in what was a poor game for the German international.

Neuer kept a clean sheet Saturday as Bayern Munich won 2-0 at Stuttgart.

Neuer kept his 14th clean sheet of the season with a very comfortable goalkeeping display. Despite a hugely impressive number of clean sheets this campaign, it was actually the first achieved in four games. However the goalkeeper barely had anything to do, not having a shot to save for the entire match.

Neuer was named to the FIFA FIFPro World XI on Monday.

Neuer was also up for the Ballon d'Or, given to the best individual player in the world, though he finished behind both Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, who won the award, and Barcelona's Lionel Messi. Neuer is without a doubt the best goalkeeper in the world, and he has plenty of trophies to prove it, including last year's Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich and the World Cup with Germany.
