Shelvey had a shot and two key passes in Wednesday's 1-0 loss to Stoke City.

Shelvey was at the center of everything that Newcastle did against Stoke. His passing was solid and he had a great chance at nabbing a goal if it wasn't for a great save from Jack Butland. Shelvey is an intriguing option, and could be a great asset if Newcastle's attack can find its form over the last few months of the season.

Shelvey assisted Newcastle's lone goal in Saturday's 2-1 loss at Watford.

Shelvey has been impressive through his first two appearances for Newcastle, seemingly cementing his place in their starting lineup. The former Swansea City man set up his side's only goal Saturday with a cross that was headed home, and will look to provide similar creative stylings in the Magpies' matchup against a suspect Everton defense next time out.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Shelvey took four shots (one on target), one key pass and one cross in the vital 2-1 home win over West Ham on Saturday.

Excellent debut for Shelvey with the Newcastle colors. He was involved in both goals to set the Magpies with a comfortable early lead. Particularly on the second goal, he threw a brilliant long ball, across the field, to Daryl Janmaat on the right flank who, then, picked up the assist for the goal. Shelvey received a clean slate with the Magpies after his exile at Swansea. It seems like he gelled with his new team right off the get-go and he can produce in fantasy despite playing as a holding midfielder. Next up for the Magpies is a visit to the stingy Hornets next Saturday.

Shelvey signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Newcastle on Tuesday after transferring from Swansea City.

Shelvey fell out of favor at Swansea under interim manager Neil Curtis, though he was a solid fantasy producer under Garry Monk. Given the struggles of Newcastle this season, Shelvey will surely get plenty of first-team opportunities, and the subsequent increase in fantasy upside. Given the timing of the deal, he will not play Tuesday against Manchester United, but he could debut Saturday against West Ham.

Shelvey may make a switch to Newcastle during the winter transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

The midfielder hasn't been in favor at Swansea recently, and is worried about losing his place in the plans for Euro 2016. Newcastle is expected to pay 12 million for the transfer with a five-year contract on offer.

Shelvey has returned to the lineup for the match against West Ham as a substitute.

Shelvey's listed as a substitute as he makes his return to the roster after his injury against Manchester City on Dec. 12. While he may not see the pitch during Sunday's match, him being available for use benefits Swansea greatly. He'll most likely return to the starting lineup next week and replace current starter Leon Britton.

Shelvey could return for this weekend's match versus West Ham after recovering from a calf injury, the BBC reports.

The England international has not played since Nov. 21 because of the injury, but he has recently taken part in full training. If Shelvey is able to prove his fitness to caretaker manager Alan Curtis, he would likely displace Leon Britton from the starting XI.

Shelvey will not play Saturday against Manchester City because of a calf strain.

The announcement described the ailment as "slight," though there was also no indication how long Shelvey would be sidelined.
