Khedira is expected to miss up to two months because of a thigh injury suffered Saturday in a friendly against Marseille.

Khedira has dealt with numerous injuries over the past few years, as he made just 11 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid last season, and just 13 the season prior. While it was always a long shot that he was going to be fit for the whole Serie A season, it's a bit surprising the injury bug hit so early.

Khedira is on the verge of joining Italian champions Juventus on a free transfer, The Guardian reports.

Khedira's contract runs out this summer and it has been clear for a while that it would not be renewed at the Bernebau. The midfielder has been pushed out of the Real team in 2015 and Juventus could be a perfect move to get the midfielder back on form.

Khedira confirmed that he plans to leave Real Madrid this summer, according to the Mirror.

The midfielder said he is looking for a new challenge after losing playing time under manager Carlo Ancelotti. He has made 161 appearances for the team, and both Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly interesting in having him join their clubs.

Khedira made an assist as Germany tied 2-2 with Australia in an international friendly Wednesday.

Khedira crossed for Marco Reus to net on 17 minutes to give Germany the lead. It was only the midfielder's second game in any competition since injuring his hamstring in early February.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Khedira made his return to game action on Tuesday versus Schalke, registering just one shot before being removed in the 58th minute.

Khedira had not played since Feb. 7 due to a hamstring injury and was visibly rusty during his time on the pitch. He is not much of a fantasy contributor even when fully fit, and the crowded midfield depth-chart at Real further diminishes his value.

Khedira was an unused substitute Saturday as Real Madrid lost 1-0 to Athletic Bilbao.

Khedira failed to fully recover from a hamstring injury and did not feature against Bilbao as a consequence. The midfielder has now not featured since the Madrid derby on Feb. 7.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Khedira could return from his hamstring injury Saturday against Athletic Club, ESPN FC reports.

Khedira's return comes at a good time for Los Blancos, who are without James Rodriguez (foot) and Luke Modric (thigh). However, Khedira plays mostly as a defensive midfielder, which limits his fantasy production in most formats.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Khedira came on in the 77th minute of Real Madrid's 3-0 win over Getafe on Sunday, but he finished with zero shots, one tackle and 11 passes on 14 touches.

Khedira has appeared in just seven matches this season, and while there is plenty of speculation about a potential move in January, he has made it clear that he'd like to stick with the Spanish giants.
