Papastathopoulos failed to keep a clean sheet as Dortmund won 3-2 Friday at Stuttgart.

Papastathopoulos stepped in to fill the role of the rested Mats Hummels and rarely looked troubled despite conceding two. The Greek international continues to be a more than capable back-up centre-back when called upon.

Papastathopoulos returned to the team but didn't manage to keep a clean sheet as Dortmund beat Mainz 4-2 Friday.

Papastathopoulos sat out Dortmund's 3-0 win at Freiburg but returned to the team in the absence of Mats Hummels. The defender looked solid throughout despite failing to keep a clean sheet and looks like a very capable replacement should Hummels or Neven Subotic suffer a downturn in form.

Papastathopoulos produced a strong defensive display in an otherwise inept team performance as Dortmund fell to a 1-0 home defeat Wednesday to Augsburg

Despite the poor performance of defensive Mats Hummels, Papastathopoulos looked fairly strong at the back. The defender also managed two shots on goal but could not find the net.

Papastathopoulos played his first competitive game Saturday since Nov. 9 and kept a clean sheet in Dortmund's 1-1 draw at Bayer Leverkusen.

A broken fibula against Borussia Moenchengladbach last year has ruled Papastathopoulos out for a considerable time. The Greek international however never looked like he'd been away Saturday and formed an excellent partnership with Mats Hummels. The result means that Papastathopoulos has now kept a clean sheet in his last two appearances.

Papastathopoulos returned from injury Saturday, playing the full 90 minutes of Dortmund's 1-0 friendly win over Steaua Bucharest.

Papastathopoulos hasn't played since injuring his fibula on Nov. 9. However he seems to have recovered fully in the winter break, the Greek international being able to play at left-back for the entirety of Saturday's game. Dortmund will be delighted to finally have the defender back in the side who will add some much needed cohesion to the back-line.

Papastathopoulos will be out for two weeks after breaking his fibula Sunday against Borussia Moenchengladbach reports.

Papastathopoulos clashed with Moenchengladbach's Andre Hahn Sunday and will consequently be out for a fortnight. Fortunately for Dortmund the injury coincides with the international break so although he'll be ruled out for Greece, he should be able to recover in time for the Champions League game with Arsenal on Nov. 26. Papastathopoulos will not be fit for the next Bundesliga game against Paderborn on Nov. 22 either however he misses the game through suspension regardless as he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the challenge that got him injured.
