Diouf is expected to be fit for Sunday's game against Swansea City after recovering from a hamstring injury, the Stoke Sentinel reports.

Diouf suffered the injury back on Sept. 29 against Newcastle and missed Stoke's last Premier League match before the international break. However, the rest has done him well and he could return to the starting XI this weekend.

Diouf has been ruled out for Saturday's Premier League match against Sunderland due to a hamstring injury he picked up last Monday against Newcastle.

Diouf's injury is not considered serious and he could return after the international break when Stoke host Swansea City on Oct. 19. Marko Arnautovic could move into the starting XI in Diouf's absence.

Diouf had to be subbed off in the 23rd minute of Stoke City's Premier League match against Newcastle on Monday after appearing to suffer a hamstring injury.

It's unclear exactly what the issue was, but it was serious enough to force him from the game not even 25 minutes after the opening whistle. He'll undergo scans in the coming days to determine the full extent of the injury.

Diouf started and played 71 minutes in Stoke's 1-0 season opening loss to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Diouf was selected ahead of experienced Premiership striker Peter Crouch, but failed to make much of an impact, as he didn't attempt a shot all game. The Senegalese striker was bought this summer from Hannover 96 of the Bundesliga, where he scored 20 goals to go with 10 assists over the past two seasons. Looking ahead, it should be worthwhile to monitor which striker - Diouf or Crouch - manager Mark Hughes chooses to start up front for the Potters.

Stoke is expecting to sign Diouf from Hannover this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Diouf is a former Manchester united player, who made five appearances for the club. The team hopes they can get the deal done to secure the striker manager Mark Hughes has wanted since last season.

Diouf scored two goals in a five minute span during Saturday's match against FC Nurnburg.

At halftime Saturday, Hannover 96 were being trounced by a surprisingly strong FC Nurnberg offense. After Hannover returned to the field, Diouf took off like a rocket. The Senegalese phenom is a highly respectable performer in the Bundesliga and the brace that he put together Saturday puts him at the five-goal mark on the season. He may not be on fire in fantasy leagues, but he certainly holds plenty of value going forward.
