Rodwell scored off a header against his former club in the 3-2 loss to Manchester City Thursday.

Rodwell played well in the match completing over 90% of his passes, scoring his header, and recording three blocked shots. The youngster has been struggling with this being only his second goal, but has looked promising getting off shots in every match, while providing defensively. Rodwell should be in the starting XI next Saturday when Sunderland take on Liverpool.

Rodwell got his second consecutive start Wednesday and led Sunderland with four shots in the 4-1 loss to Manchester City.

Rodwell surprisingly saw some bench time prior to the two starts, but has regained the mid-field role and has looked good in the starts. A young promising player like Rodwell should continue to see starts going forward. The Black Cats travel to Anfield this weekend to take on Liverpool.

Rodwell led Sunderland with three shots Saturday, but was scoreless as Sunderland lost 0-2 to Arsenal.

Rodwell seems to be Sunderland's best offensive weapon, but he only has one goal on the season. If he can continue to be attacking and get off shots there should be some production coming. Keep an eye on him as he faces some poor defenses in Crystal Palace and Everton the next two weeks.

Rodwell got off three shots, all on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net in the 0-0 draw to Burnley Saturday.

Rodwell is a regular starter for the Black Cats and has really looked good in his first few games. He is playing more of a central attacking role with Sunderland and could be a good source of goals and assists if the offense can find some rhythm. If he can continue to get his shots on goal, he'll be converting them sooner rather then later.

Rodwell scored his first goal for Sunderland in their 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday.

Rodwell has looked very promising for Sunderland in his first two games. As a young prospect, Rodwell could really come through for the Black Cats this season and his stock will only rise if he keeps living up to expectations. Look for his form to continue against a struggling QPR side next weekend.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rodwell has joined Sunderland from Manchester City on a five-year deal.

Rodwell couldn't stamp out a regular place in the Citizens' crowded midfield, making 16 appearances (and scoring two goals) in two seasons. The 23-year old defensive midfielder, who's earned three caps for the England national team, now moves to the Stadium of Light, where he should get regular playing time.

Wigan may look to sign Rodwell on an emergency loan agreement in their effort to gain promotion to the Premier League, reports the Mirror.

Rodwell hasn't featured for City since January's FA Cup match against Watford. This could be a good opportunity to allow the player to get some playing time while being considered surplus at his home squad.
