Rodwell has been ruled out for Saturday's match against Leicester City because of a hamstring injury, the Newcastle Chronicle reports.

Rodwell has been dealing with the issue for much of the season, and he tweaked it recently enough that he'll be held out yet again. Given the quick turnaround to Wednesday's game against Arsenal, it's possible he will not play again until the season-finale on May 24 at Chelsea.

Rodwell (hamstring) is starting Saturday against Crystal Palace.

Rodwell's hamstring injury wasn't expected to keep him out long, and he'll get a start right away in place of Sebastian Larsson, who is suspended.

Rodwell led Sunderland with three shots in the 4-0 blowout loss to Aston Vila Saturday.

Rodwell also led the team in passing accuracy as he completed 87% of his passes, but was unfortunate not to score in the blowout. Rodwell had had a bit of a disappointing season scoring only three goals on 25 shots, and contributing zero assists in his 17 games played. Sunderland's next match comes next Saturday when they travel to West Ham.

Rodwell started and was able to score on his three shots in the 1-1 draw to Hull City Tuesday.

After being a question mark with a groin injury, Rodwell made good of his start and scored the only goal for Sunderland Tuesday. Rodwell also picked up a yellow card in the match, but played a full 90 minutes. The full time action is a good sign after recovering from the groin injury and he should remain in the starting XI going forward. Sunderland's next match comes in 10 days time when they host Aston Villa in an important relegation battle.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rodwell (groin) is in the starting XI for Tuesday's match against Hull City.

Rodwell has missed the past few games due to the ailment, but he'll slot back into the starting lineup in his return. While it's a decent matchup from a fantasy perspective, he hasn't been the most reliable option this season, making his selection more of a dart than anything else.

Rodwell (groin) will not play Saturday against Manchester United, but he may be able to return Tuesday against Hull City, the Sunderland Echo reports.

Rodwell has been sidelined for nearly a month due to the ailment, and while he's close to full fitness, the United match will come too soon.

Manager Gus Poyet said Thursday that Rodwell (knock) is 50/50 to face Swansea City on Saturday.

Rodwell has scored against both Manchester clubs this season, but unfortunately they were his only scores of the season, and the first came back on Aug. 24 against United.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Rodwell scored off a header against his former club in the 3-2 loss to Manchester City Thursday.

Rodwell played well in the match completing over 90% of his passes, scoring his header, and recording three blocked shots. The youngster has been struggling with this being only his second goal, but has looked promising getting off shots in every match, while providing defensively. Rodwell should be in the starting XI next Saturday when Sunderland take on Liverpool.
