Walters (illness) is not in the 18-man squad to face Norwich on Saturday.

Walters, who has reportedly been linked to Norwich this summer, wasn't expected to miss out, so it appears the illness was strong enough to keep him from training to the point where he'd be fit.

Walters could miss Saturday's match against Norwich City because of an illness, the Stoke Sentinel reports.

Norwich actually made a 1.5 million bid for Walters earlier this week, though it was rejected by Stoke, and while the illness isn't likely to keep him out Saturday, he may be forced into a reserve role now that Xherdan Shaqiri is available for selection following his one-match ban.

Walters scored in the 30th minute of Stoke City's runaway 6-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday.

Walters intercepted a poor clearance in the box before finishing a second-effort strike to mark his 50th goal overall since joining Stoke in 2010. In terms of this season alone, Walters recorded eight goals and four assists, with his best performance undoubtedly being a hat trick against last-place Queens Park Rangers in February. At 31 years old, Walters embodies one of Stoke's more reliable performers heading into next season.

Walters recorded the first hat-trick in Stoke City's Premier League history Saturday against Queens Park Rangers.

Walters started up front for the Potters and followed a first half brace by completing his hat-trick in the second half of Saturday's 3-1 victory over QPR. Overall, the veteran now boasts an impressive seven goals and three assists in 15 starts on the campaign. Furthermore, with Walters equally comfortable playing as a striker or attacking midfielder, teammate Bojan (knee) being ruled out for the remainder of this season should offer Walters more opportunities to make an impact in the final-third moving forward.

Walters notched a 76th minute goal to earn Stoke a 2-1 win over Swansea on Sunday.

Walters was introduced as a 62nd minute substitute and paid dividends shortly after by scoring the winning goal of Sunday's match. With Stoke's midfield rotation a bit crowded, Walters has been limited to four appearances on the campaign and Sunday marked his first goal.

Walters scored a penalty kick during Stoke City's match at Norwich City, but was shown a straight red card five minutes later for a high tackle attempt.

Walters converted his second penalty kick in as many games to clinch a point for the Potters; however, his performance was marred by a sending off that nearly cost his team. The midfielder could now face a suspension, something Stoke can ill-afford considering Charlie Adam is already serving a three-match ban.

Walters converted a 76th minute penalty kick to lead Stoke City over Arsenal on Saturday.

Walters was chosen to take Stoke City's spot-shot after the Potters were awarded a contentious penalty with 15 minutes to play Saturday. The midfielder went right with his shot, which marked his third goal of this season and was boosted by a clean sheet effort as well.
