Manager Brendan Rodgers said that Coutinho was held out of Tuesday's Premier League match against Leicester because of a knee issue, but he is expected to play Saturday against Sunderland.

Coutinho has been in-and-out of the starting XI over the past month, and he has only one goal and no assists in 11 total appearances. With Adam Lallana playing very well right now, Coutinho's fantasy upside is a bit limited.

Coutinho scored in the 89th minute of Liverpool's 3-2 win over QPR on Sunday.

Coutinho picked up his first goal of the season after coming off the bench for Adam Lallana. The Brazilian is a nice option for manager Brendan Rodgers late in games, but for fantasy purposes Coutinho can be ignored until more minutes come his way.

Coutinho was brought on the in 60th minute after being deemed fit for Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday.

Coutinho didn't have much influence on the game, only managing one shot. The little Brazilian had a considerable amount of hype after an impressive pre-season, but those days are just a distant memory at this point. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the talented midfielder, but until he can nail down a spot in the starting XI he's not worth owning in standard formats.

Coutinho faces a late fitness test ahead of Saturday's Merseyside derby at Anfield due to a groin injury, manager Brendan Rodgers said Friday.

If Countinho is unable to play, Adam Lallana is the likely beneficiary from a playing time perspective, although Coutinho is already not the most consistent member of the starting XI.

Coutinho played all 90 minutes and fired one shot on goal in Liverpool's 0-1 loss to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Coutinho's place in the starting XI was restored due to injuries to Daniel Sturridge (hamstring) and Joe Allen (knee) and Raheem Sterling getting rest after the international break. However, Coutinho's role remains unclear, with Lazar Markovic looking impressive and Adam Lallana back fit. Fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on Liverpool's Tuesday Champions League match to see how the Brazilian midfielder is deployed.

Coutinho didn't see any minutes Sunday in Liverpool's 3-0 victory over Tottenham.

Coutinho's spot in the starting XI was given to new signing Mario Balotelli and manager Brendan Rodgers elected to use Emre Can and Lazar Markovic as substitutes in the second half. The game was already 3-0 at that point so it's possible Rodgers just wanted to get his new boys time on the pitch, but the fact that Coutinho was skipped over for Joe Allen and Mario Balotelli could mean the little Brazilian's fantasy upside may be limited.

Coutinho wasn't able to influence Liverpool's 1-3 loss to Manchester City much, and was replaced in the 60th minute by new signing Lazar Markovic.

Coutinho only managed one shot in the loss, and despite his recent performances in preseason will need to prove to manager Brendan Rodgers that he is Liverpool's best option in the number 10 role.

Coutinho has been recalled to the Brazilian national team for upcoming friendlies against Columbia and Ecuador, according to Sky Sports.

Coutinho getting the backing of his home country Brazil shows just how much the 22-year-old midfielder has impressed recently. It remains to be seen if he'll make the starting XI for these friendlies, but inclusion in the squad alone, should aid in the continual growth of Coutinho's game.
