Townsend (ankle) was left off the 18-man lineup for Saturday's match against Everton.

Townsend resumed training earlier in the week but taking Saturday's match off will afford him multiple weeks of rest since the Spurs don't have another contest until Sept. 13 against Sunderland.

Townsend (ankle) returned to first-team training this week and could be available to play Saturday against Everton.

Townsend has yet to feature this season due to the ailment, and while his return to training is promising, he's a fairly limited fantasy option in most formats even when fully fit.

Townsend will not play Saturday against Leicester City because of an ankle injury, Sky Sports reports.

Townsend missed the Premier League opener against Manchester United with a shoulder injury and did not play last weekend against Stoke either. He's constantly suffering with some kind of injury, and his fantasy value is very low because of the uncertainty.

He'll also be happy with this performance as he was facing one of his former clubs today. Look for him to continue to start as Spurs' weakest position is in the midifield. Look for Townsend to be in the starting XI next Sunday when Tottenham take on Manchester United.

Townsend has been on and off the starting XI this season and has been effective in limited time, grabbing two goals and an assist in just six games. Townsend has actually received more starts in the Europa League then in the Premier League and it remains to be seen exactly what Spurs' have in mind for Townsend. If he continues to play like this he has surely earned more playing time. Townsend and Spurs' take on one of his former teams in QPR this Saturday in a match he'll surely want to start once again.
