Townsend hammered the winner on four shots (two on target), six crosses and four dribbles in Saturday's 1-0 crucial win over Crystal Palace.

Townsend had an absolute bullseye of a performance torturing the Eagles' defense with his endless shots, runs and crosses. He crowned his magnificent display with a brilliantly taken free kick for the vital winner. Townsend scored and assisted in Newcastle's 3-0 win over Swansea on Saturday.

Townsend score once on two shots on goal in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Southampton.

The goal was a left-footed missile from outside the box that seemed to catch all of St. Mary's off guard. After an assist last week, this marks a run of top form considering the year Townsend has had. After not finding room on the pitch at Spurs and then not finding fitness at Newcastle, Townsend finally is getting chances to play. But given the overall lack of goals at Newcastle this year, he's not going to be a reliable scoring option in midfield.

Townsend (knock) is out Saturday versus Bournemouth.

Townsend saw a good beginning of his Newcastle stint but is held out yet again versus the Cherries. Once he comes back from his injury, though, he'll probably slot right back in the starting XI and has a decent fantasy upside playing an advanced role with the Magpies.

Since coming over from Spurs at the end of the January transfer window, Townsend started the first three matches for the Magpies before being held out for the team's mid-week fixture against Stoke City. Townsend scored a goal in Saturday's 5-1 defeat to Chelsea.

On an otherwise miserable afternoon for the Magpies, the January transfer from Spurs provided a small piece of good news. After struggling to get any run for Spurs, he's started all three matches for Newcastle and should provide an extra attacking option.
